Said by a Saint many moons ago and thus according to max's hypothesis - baloney. However a thoroughly modern mathematician which is absolutely acceptable to the hypothesis proposed, published a paper in 1987 using modal logic proving that God does indeed exist. Kurt Godel was his name.

So we are in a generation of better understanding which sadly you seem to be absent from.

jacques, I think I have pretty good understanding of many things. I still hold to the view that god was thought up largely to fill in the gaps in what makind understood - which was then very little - and the reason belief has been reducing ever since is because we can now explain things in a rational way.

Many many years ago people even prayed to the sun thinking it was a divine light in the sky. If they knew then it was just a planet and that the sun 'went out' every night purely because the world turned - they didn't even know then and for eons after that the world could even turn, like I said they thought the world was flat for well over 1,500 more years subsequently, then I am sure they wouldn't have regarded the sun as something divine. Mankind had everything so so wrong for so many years.

Nobody thought the world was flat - ever, until that book was published. the ancient Greeks calculated the Earth's circumference to 23,000 miles they were just 1000 odd miles out from the true figure. It wasn't until 1896 that people thought that people thought that the Earth was flat. And yet given quantifiable evidence to the contrary you still persist with your hypothesis.

Sun worship? Do even realise what sun worship was about? It was a valuable instrumentality of knowledge. It was an intellectual, even a spiritual, tool, by the aid of which truth and wisdom could at one and the same time both be concealed from the unworthy and expressed for the worthy. It wasn't about worshipping a "planet" as you call it. Even Jesus is a Sun God, so still people are worshipping the Sun. So by your analogy mankind still has it wrong.

SO what is your next hypothesis and will it have any research made before you start typing?

Of it's bollocks. Religon was created by people who needed to control masses of people. and make themselves a lot of money in the process.

If it wasnt for that earlier thinking I doubt we would be where we are today. If anything its mans quest and search for knowledge that has got us this far.

I do believe that religion was rooted in some truth but back then a man walking on water was more believable but try telling that to people these days and they know better.
