The Daily Mail, was devised by Alfred Harmsworth (later Lord Northcliffe) and his brother Harold (later Lord Rothermere). first published on 4 May 1896 and was an immediate success. It cost a halfpenny at a time when other London dailies cost one penny, and was more populist in tone and more concise in its coverage than its rivals. Soon after its launch it had more than half a million readers.

Niether were Nazi's, Rothmere was a supporter of both Mussolini and Hitler, for a short period, before coming to his senses, however to say it was started by Nazi'z is completely untrue.

You seem to know more about this than I do. I had heard they were Nazi's.

Lets face it Brand has got to be the most untallented twat on tv
everytime you see him you cannot help but switch the telly over.
As for Wossy well he has plenty of cash so I dont think it will be too adverse for him.
I think ITV would do well to pounce whilst the beeb wonder what to do.
It could be a good thing for Wossy in the end.
People love his wit and will soon forget this episode.

Yeah I think if the Beeb put in a transfer request for Ant & Dec in exchange for their top man Woss we the viewer would very much be the winner on that front, win win win .... reaches for the bottle labelled FAST ACTING SUICIDE CAPSULES: take only as directed by your doctor.

No chance in the current climate that ITV will be shelling out the money to entice Ross I can confidently predict.

I think the BBC can pay all this money out, for huge salaries like they do, because they don't have to worry about earning it. They keep getting cash from every household in the UK regardless of what they do. It is like the Civil Service, they waste loads of money (I used to be a Civil Servant so I know) because they know they will always get the money coming in no matter how well or badly they perform. Today it has been revealed that more than 50 people at the BBC earn more that the Prime Minister. I can understand a handful doing so, as politics in Britain is not terribly well paid, but FIFTY of them?!! David Cameron has called for a cap on salaries at the BBC and I agree.

Norton is already overexposed at the BBC and generally reduces all guests to mere stooges for his bitchy, limp-wristed, equally puerile humour.

Indeed, the perfect replacement.
