The problem is that Chelsea can't really wait until after the Euros. With so many player ins and outs to get sorted and the pressing need to start contract talks with other players, time is really pressing on Chelsea.

I think Scolari has effectively ruled himself out because Chelsea can't wait for him. They need to know NOW what players the manager wants to keep, what players he wants to see brought in etc.

I expect the new Chelsea manager to be announced within a few days.

I'd be very surprised if it took a week, I think about 2 days is more likely.

Regarding Ten Cate's sacking... he said Kenyon had told him that Grant's sacking wouldn't affect him. That can be interpreted in two ways. Ten Cate interpreted it as meaning "your job is safe" The alternative interpretation (sacking Grant won't affect you... because we were going to sack you anyway) is what happened. Good riddance to a man who should never have been involved in the club in the first place.

I hope Kenyon holds sway in the discussions regarding the next manager as he seems to favour Mark Hughes, who would be my preferred choice. The only downside to having Hughes is that he might not be able to attract some players in the same way a Scolari, Ancelotti or Rijkaard might, but he could bring Bentley and Santa Cruz with him, which would be nice.

Weighing it all up, I'd like to see Sparky at the club as well. Whilst others mentioned are top drawer, at least Mark Hughes KNOWS the club and the Premiership.
As for him attracting 'names', lets be realistic, the fuckers these days don't give two fucks who they sign for as long as they get top dollar, the mercenary slags!

I got an idea for the new Chelsea manager.

Last season he:

* Got his team into the Champions League final (for the first time ever)

* Finished second in the toughest league in the world (only missing out on the last day)

* And also got into their domestic League Cup Final

Admittedly he did not win anything (but came very close), but in the country his team played in, overall he was the second most successful manager.

Cant seem to rememeber his name.

Hughes would definetley bring Bentley with him,if he became the new manager. However, the new manager would be foolish to go on a spending spree.Fair enough, expect a few in's and out's at the Bridge.More out's i expect.

In's (hopefully):Micah Richards,David Bentley,Jan Huntelaar

Out's:Drogba,Lampard,Essien=because they want to leave
Sidwell.SWP=For their own good. They deserve first team football
Ben Haim,Malouda,Belletti,Pizarro=because they're crap and should'nt of gone to Chelsea in the first place.

I'm hoping Carvalho and Sheva stays.Sheva needs first team football. We're still to see the best from him, which i belive he CAN still deliver.

For me, keep Essien and get rid of Obi Mikel who is a liability on the pitch as well as Anelka who looks half arsed most of the time.
Sidwell deserves a run as does SWP, and Im a believer of Sheva as well, give him till transfer window in January to make the desicion

Essien wants to go Ace,and my attitude to Chelsea players has always been,if you are not happy, then go.Though i would'nt begrudge Lampard going as he has nothing to prove to us,and certainly owes us nothing.Seven years of loyalty is good enough for me !thumbsup!

I like Obi Mikel, defineley the No1 replacement for when Maka eventually retires.

I forgot about Anelka. He definetley can leave.

For all his undoubted talents, I was never a great fan of the idea of Schevchenko coming to Chelsea... and even though it was Roman's signing with his own money, ?30m was just TOO much and made the club look bloody stupid. It also gave out the message, if people hadn't already realised it, that in spite of all their protestations about not being held to ransom, the club WAS prepared to spend silly money on a player whose best days were behind him.

I would imagine the list of those leaving will include all four strikers (Anelka, Drogba, Pizzarro and Scheva), Sidwell, Ben Haim, Boularouz (he was on loan last season), Belletti, SWP and Malouda; possibly Lampard, maybe Bridge but hopefully not Carvalho. If a left back were to leave I'd rather it were Cole than Bridge... I just can't stand "Cashley", and even in a Chelsea shirt I still think of him as an Arsenal player.

Although that's 10 out, the squad was a little top heavy last season (and at times, probably just as well!), but I can't see more than about 4 or 5 coming in. Obviously strikers are needed and Santa Cruz and Huntelaar would both be good (forget the Torres rumours... even silly money wouldn't see Liverpool selling him... just a journo winding people up). Bently would be an excellent addition and a really creative and attacking central midfielder is an absolute necessity.

I absoloutely pissed myself laughing when the Torres rumours were revealed, though i was not surprised. And you'd be amazed by the amount of simpletons that actually believed Torres was set to sign for Chelsea !laugh!

Expect more cringeworthy transfer rumours over the next few weeks in the national press as they need pages to fill, what with England not being involved at Euro 2008.
