I've always used Keiro Sunbelt Personal Firewall.

I used to use Norton but, it's very resource hungry and only updates once a week iirc. Also a pain was the 11 months worth of updates, the last month without updates giving you a chance to buy the next years worth, well 11 months atleast. !annoyed! Worse still their free removal tool is next to useless, you still have to trawl through the registry to remove things, even then there is still one or two things you just can't get rid of.

I am currently using Bitdefender Internet Security 10 - 2 computers+2 years of updates package and I have to say I'm very pleased so far. Updates on the hour if available. It has stopped everything that has been thrown at it so far. !thumbsup! !cool!

Yeah I was thinking of using Zone Alarms Free Firewall with AVG Free as an interim measure and see where I go from there.

Thanks again.

Yeah I know Norton is a resource hog although Symantec have claimed that all their 2008 software uses far less than before but it isn't much good if I'm not getting protected.

I'll check out the Steganos over the weekend with the others mentioned in this thread when I have more time.

Cheers Trumpy.

Its all worth reading

Bottom line is apart from using just 1 anti-virus & 1 firewall that are hopefully inlove you can pretty much download and use any number of scanners,malware/trojan/spyware removers & software to block bad sites

This link of jacques to do with overall security is worth a read as well

Steganos here at:

It's a German company so you'll have to click on the translation button on the home page to understand - unless you can speak and read German, then you won't need to do this.

AVG is good but Zone Alarm not as a good as it used to be.

I'm using Comodo Firewall. A bit interactive when first installed but I've had no hassles since installing 6 moths ago.

I'm also running Spyware Terminator. Current build a bit heavy on memory usage but apparently being worked on.
