That's not my view or my experience of WHam. In thirty five years of going to football I've only had three spots of reall bother. All involved unporovoked attacks by WHam elements on Spurs' fans. It goes without saying that in any club it's only a minority who are into violence and abuse, but there has been a siginificant, unpleasant element at WHam for donkey's. My brother-in-law stopped taking his kids to Upton Park for that very reason. You love your club, fine. But don't pretend you haven't seen the elements I'm talking about.

You misunderstand the reason why Spurs' fans call themselves 'Yids'. In the 1950s a significant proportion of the fanbase was Jewish. Other clubs, especially London clubs, would hurl 'Yids' at us a term of hate. The Spurs' fanbase stood shoulder-to-shoulder with its Jewish members and turned what others viewed as a term of abuse -'Yid' - into a badge of defiant pride that included everyone - black, white, Jewish, Gentile. 'Yiddos!' says we are all the same, because we are all Spurs. My dad explained that to me the day I first went to Spurs. I explained it to my nephews when I first took them. We know what it means. So do our players. 'Yiddo' to me is one of the proudest chants in football. We have always had a progressive tradition and we always will.

Now if we could just get a fucking decent result, I'd be a happy man.
