Dibble is/was a rabid Thatcherite, not a Nazi.
They did not invade Poland or exterminate 6 million Jews [much as one
or two of them might have liked to].

I've followed this topic with interest as it touched on the Govt.'s rationale
behind aiming for a 50% degree target. I'm off to work soon so I can't
expand much now except to say that my thoughts involve, inter alia:
Normal Distribution of intelligence across the population, devaluation of
degrees, grade-inflation at A-level....you get the drift.

The issue is ectremely complex and I didn't have the time tonight to
develop my thoughts fully.
I will say that I am MASSIVELY in favour of developing every individuals'
talents to the utmost; that I seriously doubt that current policy is the best
way of achieving this; that I am suspicious of the marriage of convenience
between provider and customer in A-level provision; and that I am well
aware of IQ tests' inadequacies.

IQ tests are too often simply a measure of a candidates' ability to do IQ
tests.
Yes, they're pretty irrelevant where educational strategy is concerned.
