Of course we are generalising

I'm not gereralising about smokers who smoke around other people.

No, drinking alcohol only harms the drinker until they do something like drunk driving or beat someone else up through their lack of self-control. To simply over drink only kills the drinker very, very slowly.

No, we were generalising about the selfishness/intelligence of smokers who smoke freely around others.

The difference is in the location the gasses are exhausted. People do not drive in enclosed spaces.

I have no problem with people smoking outdoors, where I'm free to keep my distance.

Public transport, work places, eateries and places of socialising don't give much choice for the non smoker, unless you want to be an unemployed, unsociable hermit.

I've never drunk alcohol nor smoked in my life, ever, that is unless I've had to breath in other people's smoke.
