For every hero there must exist an arch enemy. A nemesis for which we define the hero by his good traits?

This industry is broad because of guys like Max. I admit his stuff doesnt make me feel comfortable at all but I'm sure he'd be an ok guy to have a beer with.

So some people like to push the boundaries a bit but what a dull world it would be if everyone did the same thing over and over and over...Oh yeah, it is like that.

The truth of the matter is, for every guy who wants to shut guys like Max down there are another dozen that secretly feel he is a hero. Maxs movies excite and thrill them, its escapism, its an anethema to the vanilla nice porn being produced. It is dark, evil, sleazy. That is in effect, its attraction.

So by all means, rail on if it makes you feel good. You will never stop it and if Bush and his minions have been trying to do it with no success over the years than Max must have achieved something.

If they really wanted to shut Max down they could do it but deep down they wont or cannot but for the sake of appearances have to be seen to be doing the right thing while at the same time reinforcing the american right to express themselves how thay damn well please.

Chatteje,
Al Goldstein producer of Screw magazine offered $20,000 to anyone who could prove that "snuff" films were on the market! That was about twenty years ago and as far as I know no-one has eve picked up the reward!

Mike,
What is "obscenity?" Is it that which "depraves and corrupts a person who may likely to come into contact with it." as English Law describes it, or is it an artificial device to exercise state censorship over the people?
Mike.

As a Supreme Court justice said, 'I know it when I see it.'
Seriously, this has been the topic of much Constitutional law the past 50 years. The basic test as put forth in Miller v. California (1973) is whether the material appeals to prurient
interest; depicts/describes offensive sexual conduct; & is w/out serious literary, artistic, etc. merit.
Note this is set up in the conjunctive, so all 3 elements are needed.
