Channel 4 News can be ridiculous at times, with some of the questions posed in interviews bordering on extreme. But on the whole, it's the best broadcast to watch.

The Beeb has dumbed down to an embarrassing extent. But occasionally, very occasionally, you get a glimpse of what it is capable of. There are still a few real journalists there, willing to express an opinion on what they see. The guys who covered Hurricane Katrina and the Amish and Virginia Tech shootings asked serious questions about the US reaction to the tragedies. Keep the news away from the tailor's dummies who read the autocue, and it tends to be quite okay.

You mentioned the consumers were more motivated because they got off their arse. I tried to point out that motivation had little to do with it. People got off their arse no matter what they wanted to purchase in the 60's, because it was the 'done thing'. That's like saying they were more motivated to brush their teeth in the 60's than I am, because I buy my Colegate online through Tesco while they walked to the corner shop.

Your argument about motivation doesn't wash.

Warren went further than I about competing entertainment alleys one could choose these days compared to the past, but I'd be waffling again which is unnecessary to my point............which is correct by the way !wink!

I'll not bring the Oasis stuff up again. Like I said, 'technicalities aren't really important to the masses' when it comes to music. It's how the music makes you feel emotionally (and that's personal anyway).

The lead singers Dad is a music teacher. The rest come from bulders/joiners families (etc). Pretty working class from High Green. Definitely not Lawyer/Doctor sorts.
