Regarding armchair revolutionaries believing in freedom of speech. Maybe they did back then, but it seems that today?s middleclass revolutionaries only pay lip service to freedom of speech. Yes, you can say anything you want ? unless it tramples on their sacred cows of race, gender, and sexual orientation. You may not have noticed, but right now in our supposedly liberal sophisticated 1st world democracy people are being prosecuted and jailed simply for calling other folks names and having opposite views to the ones that prevail amongst the ruling middleclass elite. These people are not ?liberals?. They are as fascistic as those they claim to despise. A true liberal would let everyone have their say, then seek to change any irrational, extreme, or dangerous views by logical argument, dialogue and debate.

Hey Dibs how come you have not called me with all that content you have As for Shami Chakrabarti fikin headcase. I made porn since early 80's never been locked up for it had a night in the cells, house raided twice and my unit emptied after 18R was legal...Got it all back. When you draw attention to yourself things tend to get worse. I prefer a more subtle approach like dealling with rather than banging on about doing it. In the 90's the top plod in New Scotland yard told me all he was interested in was 3 types of porn. We did not shoot it or sold it so we were in the clear. In fact I was going to waste someone for suggesting I would shoot underage stuff, and I do mean waste. He was later raided and found with hundreds of the nasty stuff along with a load of his shithole mates they all got time and exposed for what the were. Some people are obsesed by the word ANTI- they just need to fight against everything right or wrong. They really believe they have to most times they are genuine, but they never win.

On the subject of Shami Chakrabati though, even if she doe's annoy people, this country is a democracy, and she is doing a public service which often entails enraging most of the general population.
It's like lawyers, you hate them most of the time, but you will call on them when you have need of them.

However if they ever got in they would follow Hitler's policies on pornography and you would end up in one of the concentration camps.
