Big Brother - who cares?

Hi
I have watched Big Brother twice.
In summary I am largely in agreement with Officer Dibble in that it is:
Largely about morons
Watched slavishly by morons
Endlessly publicised by newspapers such as the Sun and Daily Star which are either read by morons or people who cant be arsed to make the effort to read something with longer sentences in
Made by clever people who have understood that on British television today it is largely impossible to underestimate the intelligence of the general public and still get a big audience
Discussed by politicians who think that by appearing moronic and talking as if they give a toss about whats on Big Brother actually increases their street cred

As Michael Winner (another tosser) said in one of his tedious adverts "Calm down, calm down, its only television!

Who cares?
Cheers
David
Go down to a busy pub in Liverpool in a West Ham or Arsenal Shirt, wearing a shell suit and curly wig and mimick a scouser and let me know if you offend someone and how you get on.
Stop at the football shirts, I don't need a curly wig & scouse accent to offend them! Seriously though, they'd get offended, but probably laugh along if it was on tv rather than some dipshit taking this piss right in front of them. Whether they're offended or not, it's not really racism or headline news is it? That's more my point.
As you said, you ?see actors 'acting' and mimicking different accents all the time on tv?.
Good Gracious Me is a prime example. The difference is, it is a TV sketch meant for fun and is not aimed at an individual in malice. It isn?t in a confined space by bullies.
You said it right there. 'Bullies' Not 'bigots' or 'racists', but 'bullies'. I never said they weren't bullying Shilpa, I just doubted their racist tendencies. Only they know if their bullying had a racist motive.
Over the years I have met several of his family and friends that are very racist towards Blacks and Bangledeshies yet I don?t tolerate this just because they may be playing on 'white guilt' or are non-white and should be allowed to get away with it.
Quite right too. Racism shouldn't be tolerated from anyone. However you cannot say these three women were being racist towards Shilpa. Just plain old taking the piss and bullying/bitching. I'm not saying bullying is ok, just that it's not as newsworthy, so everyone's jumped on the 'racist bandwagon'. People believe tabloids, and they perceive what they want to perceive. I'm just trying to be objective rather than jumping to conclusions.

White - white bullying is 'bullying'.
Black - black bullying is 'bullying'.

Why is white - black bullying always assumed to be 'racism'?

It happens all the time out in the real world. Much better it happens in public to create a debate. Yeah, Channel 4 are benefiting from it, but that's showbiz.

Don't know about Jade, but in London at least, council estates are much more racially mixed than leafy middle-class streets. A lot of liberal types oppose racism in theory but are quite happy to send little Hermione to a school in a whiter area - although they'd never admit it. It's the council estate kids who get to mix more freely with kids of all races.

You seem more offensive than the people you're complaining about. Your 'white shits' remark wasn't racist though. The 'shits' just happened to be 'white', right?

If being objective and unaffected by other peoples hysteria is ignorance, then I am 'ignorant as you say.

How dare you call me a 'tart' though? No one's ever called me a 'fruity pie' before. At least not outside my private life.

I think you have a crush on me tbh.

To quote rd213:

"you white people do a very good job at hiding their emotions and bottling up which is very cowardly. Its pathetic."
"the white shits of this country "

Could that not be interpreted as being slightly racist?

Well rd213, you are obviously so blinded by your own rage you come across as ingnorant yourself. You know nothing about me and I can tell you this: I'm more than entitled to say my piece about niggers and pakis and any other people racism and ignorance is levelled at given my colour I can pass quite easily in most categories of ethnicity being mixed raced.

Yes I have been called a nigger. Yes I have been spoken down to by arabs who feel I must be lower class than them...And yes before the dreads I've been mistaken for a variety of other nationalitys.

So pardon me if I say I have fucking loads to say on the subject!

Sam do you know why white people are not up in arms about comments and actions out of turn? Because a lot of white people are complacent and indifferent. Those who have real fire in their bellys about such things end up joining some group like the BNP or the Aryan Nation or some white supremacist group to feel better about themselves for safety in numbers but I'll tell you all this in general, black, white or anywhere inbetween:

Hate is an all consuming emotion that has no real love for anything, even in itself and this world is filled to the brim with people thinking they are better than everyone else because of their colour and social standing.

Its really quite pathetic.

All those people harping on about whites making racist commnets whould watch their own toungues as they are guilty of that other word that is just as bad: Reverse racism.

Like I said earlier, all this ends up being is a big fat shouting match on who can scream their points the loudest and it never gets anywhere and thats exactly what this Big Brother incident has sparked off.

I betcha its made the ratings soar with angry individuals like rd123 baying like a wolf waiting for the next racist comment to come out of some ones mouth who is not white.

Get a grip on yourself mate. You can spend your whole life bashing in faces and never get anywhere. Before long you'll run out of steam. I learned that from an early age.
