Mike agreed in a specific case I know, some guy broke in to do the house owner harm and when the tables got turned on him the owner got done. Its about control, if you use reasonable force you need to be in clear mind and in control. Which is fuckin stupid coz you are fighting for your life. If you hide a bat under your bed then use it you get done. If you use your autographed cricket bat to block him with the intention of pinning him down till the police arrive but during movement you break both his knees, that is reasonable force. My experiance has been always to be cool and calm and keep it strait when plod arrives. I was trying to hold him down but in the fight he fell down the stairs, I grabbed him again at the bottom but he again resisted where by he fell through my glass door, that kind of thing.. It is really difficult but just to let those normal punters out there know the chances are very slim of you being burgled. Steve the best way to deal with this guy is to sneak up behind him and hit him with a Range Rover,

Surely they woulda run once they saw the shotgun? Maybe he could have warned them that he had a gun or fire a warning shot in the air? Killing a burglar -who's no interest in killing you- is wrong.

"Killing a burglar -who's no interest in killing you- is wrong."

Maybe to you, Sam, but I don't have a problem with it at all. Barras and the other one were horrible, thieving, brainless, pikey, scum. Career criminals who would have gone on to do many more 'jobs' - in-between spells as guests of Her Majesty. This country is a better place without Barras. Many thousands of pounds worth of taxpayer?s money has been saved by his elimination - not to mention the fear, anguish and heartache his activities would have cause to decent citizens in future. Remember, Barras was just a teenager, although an accomplished burglar, this was just the start of his career. Who knows where it might have lead him or what magnitude of crimes he would have committed in future, had he not picked on the wrong victim (Tony Martin) that fateful evening? Fate can play cruel jokes on us all. What if Barras had lived and then resumed his scummy career? What if in later years his path and the path of someone you love had crossed? What if a reverse Tony Martin incident then ensued and Barras was the one who was left standing? Forget the naive cobblers about ?burglars not being interested in Killing you?. That is a very dangerous and complacent way of looking at it. If you surprise a burglar and he is armed, if he immediately perceives that you are blocking his exit or present a physical threat, he may simply react on instinct and club, stab or shoot you (or a loved one) dead. There is no time at all for calm, naive, middleclass, debate and consideration by either party in these circumstances. If you do not act immediately the day may be lost ? I know, I?ve been there.
