Re: Chelsea
Too young to remember him play , but i've read his stats as a player and if they're accurate he was a bit of a goal scorer around the 40 mark most seasons . JJ .
Re: Chelsea
I am also too young to remember him play but he averaged nearly a goal a game for Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
He was Sunderland's post war record goalscorer for the number of goals in one season (35) until Kevin Phillips finally broke in it that 4-4 play off final with Charlton Athletic.
It was a disgrace Brian only got two England caps and he never managed England, when you see the likes of Pearce, Curbishley and Allardyce linked with the England job and they have never won nowt as managers then Cloughy must be turning in his grave.

It was due to Brians career ending knee injury this wasn't increased, although admittedly, it WAS a national disgrace he wasn't allowed to manage England..........the FA were shit scared of him!

Actually, Bob is quite correct in judging that Ronaldinho et al would struggle in the Premiership due to the climate and physical conditions. Theres only a handful of Latino players that have actually done well here, compared to the dozens who have flopped.
Im sure Ronaldinho WOULD play some crackers, but only if the conditions suited him. I have seen him in some La Liga games and he really can't be arsed at times.

One of the reasons he gave for joining Barca over Man U was that "the sun never shines in England"

Ace is dead right. Clough didn't fit the (political) FA's desire of a blazer and tie man.
I remember one famous quote from Cloucghie as to why he didn't get the England job and he said:-
"The FA never gave me the England job because they were scared that I'd change the organisation from top to bottom and that's exactly what I'd have done".
