It's against the law to do a lot of other trivial things too, laws are broken everyday. Intolerance plays into the hands of Tony's friends in the legal world, which is why they like to whip up a frenzy - it keeps them in work and gives the "people" the illusion they have some kind of say.
There's a world of difference between, say, steaming along a busy path full of shoppers on a saturday morning and opting to ride on the footpath of a busy a-road at 10pm - howver the law deems there is no difference whatsoever.

You could argue that we just give the government 100% of our income and just ask for a "survival allowance". Clamouring for more and more legislation, you might as well.

Do you think it's relevant that motorists kill 3,500 people in a typical year while cyclists kill zero? Maybe that's why the police target motorists first?

Just a thought.

Since many paths are now also cyclepaths too your comments are a moot point.

What annoys me as a cyclist is pedestrians walking in cycle lanes and the arrogance of car users that pay road tax and feel they have a say. Your road tax is needed as your vehicle puts wear onto a road...what damage does a cycle do?
