You either get The Office or you don't.
The same can be said for Gervais's whole sense of humour.

The Office was basically taking the piss out of the mediocrity and grind of working life. The characters were a mixed bag - delusional, pathetic, boring, sexist, racist, likable, unlikable, funny, disillusioned, dreamers etc.

I think what people liked about it was they could identify with it.

But...like everything else.....it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I, for one, am completely baffled as to how Last Of The Summer Wine has lasted for 33 series.
If I find it funny when I'm old......shoot me.

Good Points...if you didn't like Ricky you won't like the office is the way I see it....the only thing the office had going for it was the way it was filmed via him

I worked in a similar Office enviroment for 16 years and found the humor trivial.All the characters I could relate to but for what ever reason it just diidn't tickle the funny bone

When I worked in an office and was serving a young woman I'd suddenly find myself surrounded by several males with their IFT reports for me to peruse...sexist but piss funny

Anybody who needs to ask what IFT stands for,

I= I'd
T=That

cheers

This all reminds me of Billy Connolly's story about an occasion when he had been booked to appear at a Northern club.

On arrival, the MC asked him if he was the comedian. Connolly confirmed that he was.

The MC replied: "They don't like laughing here".

Presumably the members of that club also masturbated to excess.

Dave Allen was a funny man.
As is Peter Kaye.

I know a lot of people think Jimmy Carr is shit but I watched him in concert on the telly the other night and I thought he was funny.
He is a complete whore though who is never off the fucking TV or the corporate do circuit.
Guess he's making hay while the sun shines.
