You either get The Office or you don't.
The same can be said for Gervais's whole sense of humour.
The Office was basically taking the piss out of the mediocrity and grind of working life. The characters were a mixed bag - delusional, pathetic, boring, sexist, racist, likable, unlikable, funny, disillusioned, dreamers etc.
I think what people liked about it was they could identify with it.
But...like everything else.....it's not everyone's cup of tea.
I, for one, am completely baffled as to how Last Of The Summer Wine has lasted for 33 series.
If I find it funny when I'm old......shoot me.
