Apart from City Airport in London how many airports are in the actual place used in their name?.Most are a fair few miles outside the city/town boundary.

So Birminghams claim to greatness is it's height!
So when the world melts Birmingham will be re-named ATLANTIS as Dudley castle, the Merry Hill, Wolverhampton and Oakham get over run by Brummies!
Why sir, is that your yoghurt boiling?

My first trip to Brum was when I was 16 and in the Air Force at Cosford.
I walked out of the train station in time to see a guy getting the crap beaten out of him by about 10 others.
Not the happiest of starts, but after a couple of months I found some stonking pubs and got thrown out of most of them for keeling over pished as a newt.
Was Silver Blades at Brum or Wolverhampton and does it still exist?

Dude you must be older than the hills to remember the blades in brum!
We had Duran Duran playing at the Rum Runner and round the corner at the Blades (Silver Blades) was Stephen Tit Tin Duffy with Dave (Slade) Hill on PA complete with Silver boots. Then there was the Rendezvous Cafe which every Sunday morning was home to countless Mods on the back of Quadrophinia re-hashing the 60s with Lamby's and Vepi's mirrors abound (mostly mine).
Cool days in deed and Cosford is now a rich mans realm and a very cool place

Indeed the mighty Sabbath originated in Birmingham, Aston to be precise and Lodge Road to be really obsessive. That's where Ozzy grew up and where one day in the late sixties Bill Ward and Tony Iommi knocked on Ozzy's door and the seed that grew into the greatest hard rock band the world has ever seen was planted.
Last year me and a mate made a pilgrimage to Aston and hung out in Lodge Road and the same day when to see Rush at the NEC. Awesome day!
