This is an awful case, but just highlights that we humans are not very
good at 'mixing', whether it is with another race, religion or color.
I have to say I do put much of the blame on our governments, both
the current labour and the previous tory.
During the last 15 years or so we have seen a massive rise in people
coming to this country, be it by offical immigration, illegal immigration,
official asylum, or 'scam' asylum.
Recent figures show that about 500,000 illegal immigrants are here,
and thousands of people who have been turned down for asylum
are still here.
These figures put a strain on the country, and on race relations. Plus
the recent bombings have not helped.
While most people have no problem with a gradual, limited immigration,
what we have had for the last few years is an uncontrolled mess, and
I am afraid I fear for the future of this country.

Well, I just watched the news and I'm convinced by the info I got that it was racially motivated...or at least ended up being that way.
Sadly, again, its the few who let the majority down. Even sadder when you think the lad was a really nice non aggressive type who just happened to have a white girl friend. I see some people havent moved with the times.
Why can't you see a group of white thugs fighting the same number of thugs who are black? Why do three thugs pick on one "nice" guy? Because they are spineless wankers who have to fight in numbers...Wow! They are sooo hard.

Agreed.
We want to see more fights on a larger scale, such as you describe.

speak for yourself, not me
not sure how you bring immigration into this discussion, it's almost as if you are saying he deserved it cos he shouldn't have come here in the first place (despite the fact he is likely to be 2'nd or 3'rd generation and as british as you are)

Apparently they have just caught one of the guys. If he doesnt get life, a good decade in prison will break him down and despite how he feels now, he will have time to reflect on "What if I didnt kill that kid that day"
The way I see it, two lives were wasted that fateful day. The dead kid is no more, the living one will die slowly, day by day, couped up in a cell.
He should use this time to reflect very deeply and maybe one day he will redeem himself after he has paid his debt to society for this highly anti-social act.
I remember saying freedom comes at a cost. A lot of people take this for granted. The murderer infringed on the right of another to live so therefore his right should be taken away to be free. Justice will be served and nothing else is going to change or bring that young man back.
To be honest, the way that young man was killed with an axe in his head seems to illustrate the extent of the hatred behind the act. The killer must have felt very inferior to have committed an act like that in the first place further compounding my thoughts that he is a cowardly thug who needs back up to do his deeds.

I was talking about the human race as a whole, not 'you' or 'me'.
Look back at history and 'we' (human race) have spent a lot of our
time fighting and killing each other because we were from another
country, another race, another religon, another colour.
The list is endless, Ireland, Cyprus, Middle East, the Crusades, First
World War, the recent Yugoslavia break up, the Spanish inquisition,
South Africa etc etc.
Even many of the current problems in Iraq are down to the different
tribes and religions.

Well said one eyed jack,i couldn't agree more. Spineless, ignorant bastards did this, the kind of thugs that make life hell for the decent people on council estates all around britain, yet they go home to their parents and probably get a pat on the back telling them well done, its a sad world.
