Enoch Powell's "Rivers of Blood" speech ruined his career and labelled him as a racist but all he was saying, as I understand it, was that if we don't curb our immigration policies every man and his dog will come here. He went on to say that it's natural for people in a foreign land to stick together and these enclaves will eventually become un-policable which is exactly the situation where we're at now.
I don't consider myself a racist and I don't agree with the war in Iraq (or at least not for the reasons spun to the public) but somethings gotta give or else what's happened this morning will become common place.

I know he never used the expression, it was the press that labelled it that so. I see what you mean about the role the embassies play but why isn't it as simple as expelling them; why do we need representation of countries that the government know are backing and funding terrorism?

I cannot believe that this thread has turned into a discussion about immigration. While the bodies of the dead are still warm, people are already spinning these events into their own political agendas.
I was in the Kings Hall in Belfast when the IRA exploded a bomb, the place was packed. I will never forget that moment, but neither will I let terrorists force me into knee jerk reactions.
