Re: reading?
Recommendations are always frought with danger
A recent story about a death aboard cruise ship on its maiden voyage
Not usually my type of read but had the potential to be a decent thriller but the way the author kept harping on about "How Fuckable" every female was onboard was grating.I'm sure if his grandmother.....
Never heard of henry Bosch but then given the plethora of reading material available its not surprisng
The last time I kept buying the same author who kept using one main character was Clive Cusslers Dirk Pitt saga, akin to James Bond in many ways
Craig Thomas and his espionage books were a pretty decent read, although I must admit I've not read any for a long long time
cheers

Hey, firekind...
If you like Alan Moore....and who doesn't?....try his written word equivalent....Michael Moorcock.
Moorcock's been writing since the early 60's. He started of with Sword and Sorcery stuff...but a lot more intelligent than Conan for example....then in the mid-sixties he invented Jerry Cornelius....the ultimate time travelling, dimension shifting, sex changing, assassin hero.
Alan Moore has said that Jerry is his absolute favourite fictional hero, indeed, i've seen him interviewed on TV saying how he spent half his childhood trying to find a car-coat like Jerry wears.....to no avail.
If you want to read fantastical books the same as Moore's fantastical graphic novels try any of these.....
The Final Programme
A Cure For Cancer
The English Assassin
The Condition Of Muzak
As to the movies.....yes, Watchmen has been closed down...I heard they're trying to farm it out to other studios. What a pity as this was the one that was sounding like it was really going to do justice to the source material.
Moore's problem with the V For Vendetta movie, as I understand it was not what was in the movie, but that Joel Silver said at a press launch that Moore was "Very entusiastic about the project and had given it his full support." Which was a blatent lie! Moore has always distanced himself from the movies of his work....and with good reason....so he took exception to Silver's comments and had his name removed from the project.
Mind you, from what i've been hearing about the production so far he was probably wise to do so. You'd think if the Wachowski bros were such fans of the original graphic novel they would piss about with so much, wouldn't you?

the secret to laying the foundation of democracy is knowing where to place the machine gun!(Foggy Dewhurst)
Re: reading?
Ah yes, Clive Cussler---whose books these days always have a scene where some wise, grizzled old guy helps out our heroes and is described at loving length. That character is always familiar to our heroes, and turns out to be---Clive Cussler!
