I was in halfords the other day buying some oil & i stood next to 2 20ish yr old chavettes buying a ?200+ super bigbore stainless steel exaust system for a old astra (worth more than the car), the language and attitude made me feel physically sick. Where did these people come from?

as for kids on mopeds (nicknamed organ doners in hospitals), they make pizza delivery boys look sensible...

I noted the sarcasm, borne of frustration no doubt. As my self made rich greek uncle keeps saying,we live in an imperfect world and always will,
live your life and don't get sidetracked by pointless pursuits

Given the amount of abuse flying around, that last point is a given.

Even supposing the curfew idea could get past the various bits of human rights legislation, what chance PC Plod being able to enforce it? I've seen me driving home from work in the wee small hours and passing groups of 12-year-olds. If their parents don't care enough to wonder where they are, why should anyone else.

Unless we want to head towards a police state, the idea is a no-no. Wish I had some clever solutions to society's woes, but much of what is wrong stems from the family unit. If the parents are content to let their kids do what they want, then that's that. It's not always that simple---some kids are so out of control the parents can't do anything with them.

Still say a lot of it comes down to empathy, and respecting other people. And if that makes me a liberal wet leftie/sad old fart, so be it.

I do think we need deterants early on Crackers.
Remember how it was when we were at school?
OK so take away the extremely abusive teachers, but we had some respect for teachers and cops.

These days, kids will tell anyone and everyone to fuck off or else they'll sue them.

Being a lefty is ok, it's just when every thing turns left of left that a problem starts.

Perhaps it's part of a long term problem-reaction-solution plan of chipping kids!

The difference is we knew we were doing wrong, and no matter what punishment was meted out---being beaten to death with a mallet, caned/belted, or cleaning out the school ocelot---it was enough to know we would be punished. The I don't care attitude and the big I attitude have married and begat the moral desert that is yoof culture.

But bear in mind that's not all the children and teenagers. The media isn't interested in those that study, and help down the community centre, or arrange Christmas parcels for the old folk or Romanian orphans---they don't sell papers. So what we have is the perception of our society going to hell in a handcart---and lots of evidence to support that---but no one putting the other argument.

Too many people are prepared to let the press and the politicians do their thinking for them. One headline or a ten-second soundbite is all they need.

The subjects I do well in at pub quizzes & tv shows like millionaire & weakest link etc, are the subjects where the teacher could throw a board rubber or hit you with a pointing stick the best! simple respect was given hence less fucking around in class...
