Yes! And the sound of the audience from that strictly dancing bollocks (presumably) bursting into applause during the creepy scene when Rose/Billie is in the basement. Made me think it was turning into some surprise party type scene.

The problem will be Eccleston is a class act he always has been from Let Him Have It to Cracker and Our Friends In The North all the other Doctors have been in for the long run i think the show depends how long the BBC can hold onto Him and the very good Billie Piper.

Woodgnome was referring to a technical problem that had some sound from the previous Norton prog on the Dr Who soundtrack...when Rose was in the basement at the start....you could hear audience applause.

I, like almost everyone else, really enjoyed it. One little picky pedantic question though. When the Dr's in Rose's flat and he mucking about reading Heat and shuffling playing cards...he looks in the mirror and says something like..."Mmmm, not bad...but those ears!" ....presumably this is a reference to his appearence following his latest regeneration. So if he's just regenerated....how come he's in all those pictures from 1963, the Titanic, Krakatoa etc...looking like his current self?

The joys of time travel.

Pictures could be from his future but our past.

I thought it was a really decent effort - top acting, good script, pacey directing - beats the hell out of the dross that TV normally tries to pass off as saturday night family entertainment.

Given the way the world is self imploding(if you believe the media) any escapist program no matter how pathetic will have an audience for a while

Add to that notion the way
mainstream TV treats Science Fiction(late night filler, short term programming between major sporting events) its easy to see why fans of the genre accept whatever is dished up

Henceforth the success of that complete Joke - Buffy
Probably the worst case of how pathetic humour & with bad casting Kills

cheers

Good news and bad

The good news is the Beeb have already commissioned a second series and a Christmas special.

The bad is that Mr Eccleston won't be back for them.

Time to start campaigning again---Alan Rickman or Richard E. Grant would top my list for the part.

Rik Mayall would be far better.

Now that would be radical casting.

Looks like the guy playing Casanova is the front-runner, though.

I think Mayall would be along the lines of Tom Baker on crack.

I hope they don;t cast another cunt like Colin Baker or that McCoy twat.
They are the reason that it was pulled for 16 years.

Knowing the wankers in charge, it's only a matter of time before they stick a chick in the role just to show how hip and trendy they are.

Just to show how hip, it'll be a nigerian, hump-back, one legged, lesbian dwarf because it's so hip and we are all so ready for that.

Vote Mayall and not Izzard.
