My points weren't made in response to you, specifically, Magoo. Just general observations. I agree with much of what you say, although I don't think the special forces had any alternative but to shoot when the escaping kids were being targeted. The lax cordon around the school, and the presence of armed civilians, must be looked at.
Pretty much sickened by the whole thing.
As for the Israelis, I think it's more a case of getting a few licks in while the world's attention is elsewhere.

Totally agree on the snide Israeli attacks.
In the hours after 9-11, Sha'ron was on TV saying "We feel your pain, Arafat is our Bin Laden".
Way to go Shazza.

I think we're all pretty much in agreement.

I have to say having watched this stuff unfold over the day, how upset I am to even think I am worthy of commenting on the end result, I for one cannot comprehend that if this sort of thing was ever done in either the U.K. or America what the morale stance would be (why do I even mention America).
But can I say that I am not Anti-American and very far from it, but having just listened to a couple of their broadcasts over the last few hours, explaining all the facts and figures of this massacre, I find myself for the first time questioning the might that is America, human suffering and loss is brushed aside as a matter of fact, holy shit this is innocent schoolchildren we are talking about, sad that the whole human doom and gloom that the rest of us have felt in the Western World, it seems that if the Russians do what the Americans say, then they might be projected to the networks and therefore the modern world in a better light.
But who are we to comment anyways, when you take in the attrocities of the I.R.A. and the failures of every peace treaty since then.

I agree that is was pretty 'clever' of the Israelis to attack now, but to be honest I think they were going to do something like this anyway after the recent suicide murders. If the Russian situation hadn't happened Israel would stilll have had its revenge regardless

Agreed.
I wonder too about the kids who broke away and, inadvertently, triggered the bloodshed. What kind of guilt will they be carrying with them?

But we're only seeing one side of the story
Not to much media coverage coming out of chechnya9spelling) is there?
The conflict has all the hallmarks of Israel/Palestinian conflict in that even with Russias superior numbers it can't protect its citizens
Tit for tat until one relents which very rarely happens peacefully
cheers

This appears to be the motive behind the attacks: making the Russian people face what is going on in Chechnya, and drawing the attention of the world at large. Using children to achieve those goals will have backfired badly on them, though; the Russians could blast Chechnya into oblivion at the moment, and much of the world would probably say it's what they deserve.
Once again, a whole people are being villified for the actions of a small number of fanatics.
