I didn't say there's no point in having an opinion. Just that a petition on the government site is going to make a change in policy.
The only way this will get changed is if there's a loophole created by a national or European constitutional document or if broadcasters broadcast R18 and contest any legal challenge that results.

Yes, nasty is right, it was the petition he was referring to pointless, not having an opinion.

If anyone is interested there is a petition on the Govt website for more explicit content on TV. Click
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/13222 enter a name, genuine postcode, your email address, open the confirmation email and click the link.
600 people have signed up. Why not join them?

It's confidential. Any disclosure would be against the Data Protection Act, even to the Minister, your MP or David Cameron. If you are still worried there is no reason why you can't use a variation of your name like a middle name. It's not checked against the electroral register - it can't be, non-voters can sign.
It asks for adult (sexual) content to be treated the same as other grown up content like swearing, horror and violence.

Not bothered? You should be. The TV rules get tighter each year and Video On Demand is controlled by the same regulator.

I must admit I dont get the timing thing - Encrypted R18 only after midnight? Too late for me most nights anyway!

Big overnight jump in votes - thanks everyone.
After midnight is late for me too, but I don't want to give ammunition to the censorship brigade. Getting the principle for R18 accepted will be a major step.

Adult channels have a watershed 3 hours later than any other type of content. Babes have to wait until midnight before being able to use even restrained sexual language.
