I'm not taking a moral view on drugs - it's about personal choice but that choice should be informed and it should be about a want and not a need. 'I want to get high' rather than 'I need to get high (in order to get through this)'. This is slightly pedantic, but if drugs are on set they're no longer recreational because it's work, right?
I think that some drugs are associated with 'success', with 'glamour' and with the 'high life' and perhaps it's this that people want to opt into rather than the effects of the drug itself. I understand it's a very self congratulatory drug, so for a certain kind of person it will tick a number of boxes, most of which are arguably to do with their insecurities and their need to create a perception of themselves as 'successful'. In other words, there is a sense in which it's compensatory. Of course, people's motivations are different, but all recreational drugs are essentially escapist, and I think the pertinent question would be 'What are you escaping from?' If, on the other hand, they function to 'get the job done' in much the same way as a long distance lorry driver might take speed to stay awake and alert, then that's not altogether healthy. There's a cliche that 'You start off using drugs and then the drugs start using you' which is about the loss of control. Some people can control their drug use, for others it becomes chaotic and destructive, but it's one of those things that you only find out where you are on that spectrum through experience .... it's not self knowledge that people tend to have in their late teens/early 20s.
It does, however, highlight the responsibilities that people should have towards one another .. the 'duty of care' was mentioned elsewhere. If drugs are used as leverage, inducement or whatever then that is wholly irresponsible and cynically exploitative. If people aren't responsible then they're involved in the creation of victims. People have a responsibility to themselves which is where informed choice comes in, but in this context there's arguably a collective responsibility too..well, really, from my point of view it's inarguable.
I think people should just be a bit more honest .. on the one hand there's a public face of porn where the sex is great and it's not really work, but beneath that surface, as is suggested in this thread, there is a situation in which the majority of people are 'medicated' in order to do the job they do. If you look at it like that, it's not a great advertisement for the industry.

Re: Porn & Drugs
The difference is informed, clear headed choice and the self perception (not that of others) of degradation.
Taking what Faye says as gospel, she will have decided to take part in those activities with a clear mind, made a decision based on her knowledge and acceptance of what would happen in each situation and, seemingly, decided the reward was worth the effort and she would be comfortable with the fact that, once she had been filmed participating in those activities, the fact would become unerasable. Given all of that the viewer sees Faye Rampton as she wishes to be seen.
Girls who take drugs immediately before deciding to take part in those activities, or need to take drugs to perform, are unlikely to be fully aware of either what they are being asked to do, or of how they are performing and what they have done. How many, when they see the recording, can say that they would have performed in the same way without drugs?
That is what is degrading. In the first instance, the viewer can be happy that, if they want to see the acts Faye performs, it is Faye doing as she pleases.
With a girl on drugs the viewer cannot know that all the acts were consensual in the full legal meaning of the term - i.e. committed with sound mind.

I'm so very glad this topic was finally treated in a serious manner.
I had a feeling when Joe King was shooting down everything I was trying to get across that it would end up just being trashed.
I'd like to thank everyone for contributing to the discussion, especially Faye who has obviously seen exactly the same problems arising from drug use in the industry as I had done.
Thanks again.

I've now been in sublime, and happy retirement in my lovely old rambling house on the East Coast for 4 years.
Just like to thank all my customers over the years for helping to pay for my wonderful life of leisure.

Re: Porn & Drugs
You know what, if 8 out of 10 girls are doing porn and taking drugs then I've not been very aware of any obvious symptoms of drug taking.
Obviously I will have to research the symptoms. Maybe you can't smell a spliff through the tube.
I've never actually heard anyone with slurred speech (maybe they don't talk that much). Unless you call a lishp 'slurred speech' (Kahn Tusion and Nina Hartley come to mind).
Personally this might be a legitimate debate but I would have considered it off topic. But's not my judgement to make.

Re: Porn & Drugs
I'm outside the industry looking in but seems clear there is a problem that i very very much doubt takes place in Eastern Europe for example. Many of the babes out East are well known to many in their own countries as they are intelligent, educated, drug free and can handle hosting alone even a daytime tv show in say Hungary.
In fact most of their girls start as students doing it to help with finances but many do stay in the industry anyway as they found they love it, be it model or porn actress.
People directly within the industry who have replied here virtually if not actually give the same account.
There is alcohol abuse and taking alcohol legally.
With drugs being illegal and therefore not coming from the most caring sources abuse is but a step away especially as has been mentioned that certain desperados within the industry can get a leg over through it so it's going to get worse before it gets better.
The UK industry needs to be better run and taking more care of the main 'products', the actresses.
Bottom line really

Re: Porn & Drugs
"Are you trying to say there is a link between drugs and porn/stars?"
I maintain there is a link between entering porn and a need to earn a fair wad of money relatively quickly............. whatever use that money is put to is nobody's business really; the general consensus of many seems to indicate that the main motivation is drugs- far more prevalent, of course, in the USA than here in the UK.

Re: Porn & Drugs
I saw more girls blatantly taking drugs at the TV studios doing the late night channels than I ever did on the 36 porn shoots I went on... Girls doing ketamine, cocaine and ecstacy just to talk on the phones and bounce around in bikinis ~ sad really...

Re: Porn & Drugs
thanks mysteryman !
nursenicky im glad you brought up this subject and im glad its not just me that sees the problem !
alice in blunderland, im not talking about normal porn acts, most people in porn accept dp , peeing etc as part of normal porn nowadays ! im talking about witnessing girls high on drugs that do acts that would be painful to them if they were not high eg anal fisting, being caned etc. ive also witnessed girls working with untested models coz they were too out of it to care if the other model had certs or not.
people who are not around drugs would not notice the symptoms ! ive had plenty of photographers say to me " i was shocked when i realised so and so was on drugs! i just thought she was a bubbly girl, or just drunk ! "
sometimes just being extra bubbly or up for it are the only signs and most guys then interpretate that as the girl just being horny etc !!! lol !
miss bond, i know exactly what u mean and whom u are praobably talking about !!!! ive been on 2 live shows where the girls have actually passed out on live tv !!! or been so high the callers couldnt understand a word they were saying !
