Unfortunately the porn retail market is still firmly set in the 1960's. Shops still staffed by seedy guys in string vests and chewing tooth-picks, ready to size you up to see if you're ripe for ripping off.
The last time I visited one of these sleazy dumps, the two scumbags serving were having a heated argument cursing and swearing at each other, not giving a damn about the poor clients in their shop.
The internet is positively civilised compared to these awful places. These days these shops are looking like an anachronism and i hope that they eventually all shut down, they certainly deserve to.

".............and there are plenty of sites where you can now show your films and make a few quid so all you amateur filmakers should come out of the closet and lets see more of your films that were origanly only intended for your own viewing"

Assuming of course they have or retrospectively get Model Release.

I believe its an economic theory, beloved of your idol, Thatcher the milk snatcher. Leave everything to market forces and it'll be OK. Let the consumer decide.

Well Jimslip! Certainly no bias from you then.

I take it you haven't been into Harmony on Oxford Street. Any of the Soho Original Bookshops, or for that matter any of the new chain of Simply Pleasure Shops. Have you popped in lately to any of the shops in Birmingham. Some of them are one-stop entertainment shops, certainly the one by the Station at New street is a great place to shop. How about Pulse and Cocktails ? You tried any of their stores ? I believe they have about 15 or so now? What about the Nice N Naughty shops in the North West, who have garnished some fantastic awards for their achievements in setting new standards. Hey what about the great PRIVATE chain ? You tried them lately ? They've all had a face-lift!!

I know from personal experience that old fashioned stereotype is fast dissapearing, I'm sure there may be one or two who are still around , unlicensed acting like an old-fashioned Soho clip-joint!! Certainly no shop owner worth their salt would employ such people..... it dosen't make economic sense......

What does make economic sense is that the internet is yet to proove the big pay packet that some believe it is. Bricks and Mortar baby , that's where it's at.... Afterall purcahsing DVD by internet based in this country is wrong unless of course your're breaking the law..lol Or taking British Business off-shore and that fucks our industry up more.

No! Actually what's happening is this... Responsible businessmen have been investing their money sensibly... licensing shops and spending considerable sums in doing them up into fashionable places to shop. This can only be good for our industry.. there is a body in force to help the industry too... they're called A.I.T.A.... do a search and you'll find them, quite easily.

You can't beat walking into a shop and hand-picking an item... that's why the internet shopping hasn't yet taken over the High Street. And watch out this year for High Defintion-DVD!!! They'll be coming back to the shops in droves... afterall, we're in retail recession and guess what happens to recessions... they always start and always end!!!

... what's the matter ??? it's only porn..........

Harmony on Oxford Street
Harmony on Walkers Court
Harmony on Charing Cross Road
Simply Pleasure on Brewer Street
Simply Pleasure on Peter Street
Simply Pleasure on Goodge Street
Soho Original Bookshop on Brewer Street
Soho Original Bookshop on Charing cross Rd
Soho Original Bookshop on Liverpool street

All these in London!! Plus about 400 licensed sex shops across the UK.

I'm sick and tired of this forum being used for the purpose of the internet!! How about the High Street Retailers ? I am frequent traveller and have had the pleasure of frequenting some of the best shops across the UK!!

Has anyone been to Scandals in Birkenhead ? It has a fountain and sculptures... whopee!!!

At least when you walk into a shop in the High Street you can sample a DVD, touch it, check the disc surface for imperfections! Oh yes speak to an individual, a human even. You can call the shop, because most licensed sex shops have a phone number that works and someone who will actually it, and they are always based on-shore in this country!!!

Most shops these days have upped the ante!! Watch this space the High Street isn't finished... have you been down your local precint lately ? and seen the shoppers at work.... that's where our adult shops our heading.. into the High Street!!

Oh Yes.. I forgot.... You don't have to wait 3 weeks before your dropshipper has sourced that title... and given such an excellent service!!... most people want a wank that day!! Not when you decide to locate and send...

... what's the matter ??? it's only porn..........

Oh Dear!

Well that's fine ! Go off shore! Put all your hard earned money in other people's pockets.. that aren't British!!

But then don't give it all the bullshit about what a shite industry it is over here... everytime you purchase off-shore you're killing the UK market.. can't you see that?

It's legislation we need to change here.... that would help all retailers internet and high street and mail-order!!

High street retailers are doing their best.... trust me I know!!!

Believe me if your bargaining skills are any good... you should be able to work a deal anywhere these days.. including licensed shops. Remember the Private chain who were gulity of the press-gang attitude towards purchasing over the years are a 100 strong that leaves 300 shops where you can get a fantastic service.... if you are capable of working a deal... that is.....?

Because of course when your bargaining with a server in French Guayana.. your're not likey to get much of a response....
