I've read a few of the responses and it's typical speculation from the penut gallery. Ok, from a pornographer's perspective.

Why softcore is filmed:

1) Your cable deal. In the united states you make waaaaay more money selling your product to Playboy than the actual hardcore itself. And Playboy has rules, regulations, etc that it has to adhere to.

2) Your hospitality deal. Thats the version we shoot for the various hotels. True it can still be pretty hardcore but it's not as bad as it could be. IE: You will never see Grandma pissing in her grandson's mouth as aunty fucks him in the ass with a strap-on.

3) Content and stock photo deal. If you're a pornographer with a shit, your still end up everywhere. Including NON-Porn magazines. Need a bare-chested couple in a loving embrace under a fresh set of blankets to advertise your soap???

4) The male talent can't get an errection.

That in a nutshell is your answer.

You're right, there isn't much point to softcore. What I think there would be a market for is hardcore with a softer edge. I think this would appeal to women more. If ladies could see films where they actually witnessed the women being turned on before the wham bam thank you maam bit started they would begin to believe that porn wasn't just made for men.

It might surprise some of you guys but having your face covered in spunk doesn't cum top of the list in the majority of ladies most erotic fantasies.

Softcore was always just too frustrating.... never really worked.... the law was silly and treated people too much like children.
