You've hit the nail firmly on the head.

What would you suggest then, how would you change it / improve it?!

It's all to do with market forces. If something is selling the way it is, why change it.
99% of film producers are men. They primarily stick to a tried and tested template. Guy gets blow job, guy fucks girl, guy gets blow job again, and then the money shot. To spice it up, have two girls poking their tongues out at each other, and moaning with delight.
If it aint broke, why fix it?

The porn business is like any other business. If someone does something new and the punters buy it, everybody else produces the same stuff. The Gonzo films are a perfect example. They were different, and interesting once, now they are as much fun as a night in the Queen Vic.
Trying something new not only takes imagination, it also means taking a financial risk. Very few are prepared to take that kind of risk. Why should they, the average guy just wants to see a pretty girl getting shagged. It's not rocket science, it's not art, it's just shagging.

Doing the same thing could be seen as a financial risk.
Maybe porn is like toast. When I had winter vomiting virus, all I ate was water and toast. It was simple and tasty and not to difficult to digest.
When people buy porn maybe they don't just buy it for the porn.
Why was the Paris Hilton video such a big seller? The Pamela Anderson video is/was also a big seller, why?
People bought the Paris Hilton Video for the porn?
I've been reading Seth Godin's book - Free Prize Inside
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 35-6440668
It talks about 'edgecraft'.
The process is '1. Find an edge - a free prize that has been shown to make a product or service remarkable. 2. Go all the way to that edge.'
Why do people buy watches? To tell the time? What about a ?1000 watch? Do you get ?1000 worth of time telling from that?

The reason for boom in the amateur market is the varied tastes that most guys/couples can really relate to. Customers watching normal people fucking is real for them when the girl might have a few stretch marks & the guy has a belly etc, they think it could be them in that situation.
In the Pro world of Ken & Barbies customers would watch these films knowing they are a million miles away from ever being in that position.
I would love to get some top Pro & Am companies together as their mixture of skills would produce some brilliant quality porn films. Some see amateurs as second rate & don't value their input & the important mainstream producers are now seeing for themselves that amateurs now have a big slice of the pie & its here to stay so working together will be a natural part of porn evolution in the UK.

I agree with every word Kim.
I think sites like are the only ones in the future that will make any real money. I have put 4 of my own film clips on there in the last 2 days, and the amount of traffic to them is quite amazing. It's obviously what guys want, ordinary people having a great time, having great sex.

It's the next generation of the internet - Web 2.0 as it has been dubbed.
It's the right content for interaticivity and social networks, which is what people want from the net now, think blogs, wiki's, flickr, youtube, RSS etc. So amateur and semi-pro will slot nicely into this new home because there is the potential for interactivity and social networking, whereas Pro stuff will suffer due to inaccessibility. People like Kim will have a rosey future becuase they do not need to adapt, they have been doing this for years.
Just my opinion - feel free to discuss or tell me I am talking 'bollocks', but I am of the opinion that Content Managemet is a process not a piece of software.

I agree totally. People want to feel invovled in the process.
