BoobJobs..are they a thing of the past

Ok, I wasn't going to get involved, everyone knows my views on boob jobs, but I feel I have to answer one of Jack's comments:

"Girls that get breast emlargement for personal reasons such as to boost their confidence etc - fair play to them"

Sorry Jack, but it really worries me that people in the industry say things like that. It's like saying to an annorexic that starves herself, "if seeing your ribs makes you more confident, go for it girl!" Yes yes, I know that annorexia is far more extreme, but it is the same psychological process. Distorted self image and a desire, or often a need, for unneccesary action to boost their feeling of self worth.

I keep on saying again and again, if a girl feels she is less attractive with small boobs then WE are to blame for creating an environment where she feels that way.

AND I'll even go as far as to say that men who think obviously fake large boobs are more attractive than a natural look will support girls in having them for their own personal gratification which only furthers the objectification of girls compounding the beliefs of natural girls that they are some way inferior!

Ok, that's my rant of the day out of the way! ha! - Don't do it Jem.

And sorry Jack that wasn't particularly directed at you in person, it's just that "if it makes her more confident" line which hits me every timeI see it.

All I see is, "if it makes her more confident... she'll do more for us, so sod what it does to her" and I don't like the sound of it.

The comparison with anorexia was/is extreme and not really comparable... anorexia is a lfie threatening condition blah, blah. blah and isn't always about body image etc...

But let me address your point about body image and confidence... we all do things in regard to personal appearance in order to "boost our confidence", make ourselves feel better about ourselves, make us feel more attractive - whatever... sometimes its just about the clothes we wear, hairstyles - the lower end of the scale if we like... then there are some who workout and use a gym - not particularly for health benefits, but more because they want a particular look... and then there is the extreme end of the scale where people undergo cosmetic surgery...

Again - I'm not offended by your post - but I think you have missed the point regarding confidence and image - yes, a boob job is at the extreme end of the scale but we ALL do things to boost our confidence and self image.
