I am sure you can recoup your loses quite easily... of course as a citizen with human rights the state shouldn't be allowed to randomly choose what they want to inspect. As an adult you should be given the right to watch what you want to watch - whether it be people having their heads blown off in juicy close-up or the fisting/pissing shitting bondage porn that seem to be classed as 'obscene'.

All very true, but the practicalities are:
I can challenge, and probably win, at a cost of conservatively ?4000 and months of wasted time, for the satisfaction, and about ?30-worth of DVDs.
C&E rightly calculate that people will not challenge for these reasons, and the risk of inviting future 'sore-loser' retributive attention from the Exciseman, who can ignore the laws of the land with relative impunity, unlike we poor schmos. And they are thus seen by their paymasters to be earning their keep, 'doing' easy targets like me and the White Van Man, without having to risk their cowardly necks attempting to catch well-armed and sophisticated drugs- and arms-importers and human traffickers.
Or I can shrug my shoulders, have them re-sent at no additional cost (to me), and ignore the bastards.
