Forgive me for being alarmist on this but who is to say that the models who have quit in recent years ahvent done so because of a serious infection?

Some we dont know if they are dead or alive and not necessarily because of stds

I was at the meeting of producers back in 2008 and was pretty appalled to see only two performers turn up (well done Harmony and Sensi for making it).

I'm equally appalled that only a tiny few performers have commented on this thread.

Total apathy.

To quote Keni:

"A database WILL be the primary and essential tool in SHUTTING DOWN AND QUARANTINING any serious industry outbreak. You will know what you are getting into on every single set and every single scene."

I guess perhaps it will take a major outbreak of STI's or worse, HIV, to wake people up.

I feel very sad.

Yep and then we can refer back to these posts when everyone is running around panicking wasting time on who gave who what but then have no frame of reference because there will be no evidence to support it thanks to the data protection act

Well, unless this statement is coming from the back of result of a test case in court, without a test case nobody can say for sure how it will turn out. It all depends how well you can gather evidence of neglect and lack of due care on the set of porn shoot.

That is very true Skinny Deep...we've discussed this at length and if shit really hit the fan, this post would be great reference for a lawyer representing.

Producers for

Models against

Main reason against change is mainly financial/ practicality and habiit.

Producers offer incentive.

Models dont want.

Fine.

The reality is, no one is going to sue. people are so apathetic and lack the resources and stamina to oversee a lawsuit.

Ive never threatened anyone with a lawsuit I couldnt sort out over a drink or some verbals.

Did Evel Knieval ever try to sue his sponsors when he broke his neck? It was him that chose to do the stunts he did. Performers are not that far off.

Even if a producer didnt even look at their certs, how is a performer going to prove that? Thing is no one ever thinks that far ahead until it is too late and you are right, without a test case we will never know.

Im just making sure Im not going to be that test case.

Hello

I just want to have my say seeing as though Mr Mark is "appalled" at the fact I havent yet replied ;-)

I have read every single post on this topic and it has provided a little entertainment in the fact that some people havent bothered reading any of the discussion and then posting a silly response asking questions that have previously been discussed. Also certain people have been abusing models on their intelligence in this topic (which is totally irrelevant to anything!) and I think it is ridiculous! To think that people want to act like adults and make a change in this industry when others act like children is beyond me! To truly make a change this industry needs to work together, not slag each other off otherwise we will never get anywhere!!!

The fact of the matter is, this is voluntary!!! Which means it is totally your choice! If you don't want to back the system, don't. Yes, voice your opinions, but do not send abusive messages to others and insult their intelligence because that is not what this discussion is about!

Personally I will not be backing the system until my NHS clinic allllll the way up here decides to take the plunge, but until then I do not get a lot of work in the south so it would not be beneficial for me to travel all the way down to London or Bristol just to get tested. Plus, most of my work is solo at the moment (but I still always make sure I am tested just in case a last minute shoot comes up).

Like Cate, I too applaud the work of the NHS. They look after me, they check my ID, they offer free treatmeant, they swab my throat, anus and vagina and they are lovely, attentive people. These are all qualities that no other private clinic has ever been able to offer to my knowledge. They also type my test up for me.

But please, do not embarrass yourself by insulting the intelligence of others. We are trying to change the industry for the better and you are just letting it down

A test case is to suggest a prosecutor will see a case like this fit for a court.

You're more likely to haul a producer into court if you trip over a cable and cause yourself injury than from getting HIV doing a porn scene.

I will lay money on it because if our own NHS system cant get something in place by not taking this business seriously and leaving it open to enterprising venture capitalists then why would they see someone who has sex doing porn for a living as an acceptable case in court?

Seriously can we blame the NHS for not kowtowing to the industry with a more effective scheme for free.

They would be seen to be encouraging it.

Thing is no one is even showing support for a free option either and it is not going to be handed on a plate. The THT was going to be a free option but there was no support for it either.

Ok Im done on this topic now. Ive informed as best I could and there is nothing left to say. the final outcome is what it was in 2008.

Lets see how it fares up on its launch in January. Be great if Clinic Express can let us know how its going.

"Main reason against change is mainly financial/ practicality and habit."

At least finance is the reason that people proffer..... To be honest I think a lot of people are scared that if they opt-in and DO pick up an infection they will be penalised by others.

It's time that stigma over catching an sti ended so lets end it here. If you fuck for a living one day it will happen and that person should not be judged if they have been careful with their sexual health (ie not having unprotected sex & doing CIM at random gangbangs etc).

When someone was to show an sti on the database - producers and models should be supportive as it could happen to anyone. In fact I would suggest penalising anyone that takes part in malicious games or unfounded gossip.

Whilst people are worried about becoming targets I think they will still have their doubts. It may help if Ukap were to agree to be supportive of performers if they were to contract an sti (unless it is evident they have engaged in selfish and risky behavious).

The thing is, HIV takes 3 months to show up on a test.. So before then it would have rapidly spread. At the end of the day, it's going to take alot more than just online certification to control the spread of a life threatening disease. There is alot more I want to say but I know it will be taken the wrong way. It is not the place to be discussing the issues of why diseases are spreading. This is an open forum where many fans come. Some individuals get involved to whom it does not concern
