Very bizarre indeed Deuce.

Is it really a good idea to rest players?.The case for the defence would say yes,for the purpose of avoiding injury of what would be an 'academical' game. The case opposing that theory would say no,because if you play the same team, you keep the momentum of a winning team.Hence why the Germans,Turks and the Russians are in the semi finals because they could'nt afford to rest their top players, and this is when they get dangerous.

On that theory,i'm going for an Italy win this evening.Spain, like Holland have been faultless in the group stage,so they have yet to have their 'blip'.And this is the stage of the tournament where blips are unthinkable.Just ask Portugal,Croatia and Holland.

The Germans are doing cartwheels as we speak.

Im obviosly extactic. my e/w bet is doing incredible well. sadly two other teams i did are out but also had a few quid on germany so two from four at least in the semis. happy i did villa to be topscorer but cnt help wishing to know what the odds would have been on russia to win the thing and pavlyuchenko to be top scorer at least 300/1 400/1 i could imagine!

I thought you'd know being a bookie.Pre tournament,Russia were 200/1 me thinks,i think you'll get 20's now.I'll put up the odds in a bit.Palyuchenko would of been great odds for top scorer, all depends how Villa does this evening, and of course if Spain progress.Going by recent results, that seems quite unlikely.

I've had a mare, betting wise.I had ?20 on Portugal to win 2-1,?20 on Croatia(1-0) and another ?20 on Holland 2-0.My top scorer bet went ages ago as i backed Luca Toni, who atm can't hit a cow's backside with a banjo.

I definetley have been bashed by the bookies this week, but i'm considering putting a monkey on the Germans to win the trophy,in hope i recoup some lost income.dimi wrote:

June 22nd has'nt been a good date for Spain as a footballing nation. They have been ko'd of the past 3 major tournaments on this date

2002 W/C v South Korea
2004 Euro v Portugal
2006 W/C v Italy (i think)

pre tournament i put a bet on e/w for russia with the odds of 28/1. i recon now you will be luccky to pick them up at 4s. Pavlyuchenko was between 80s and 100s at the start and villa was between 14s and 20s. if you wanted to do germay now you would get about 6/4 7/4 ish. they are expected to be at least in the final now.

Looks like my tip on the Russians could pay me some rewards ... though wasn't feeling too confident after the first game - what a turnaround.
I always thought that the freshest and fittest team was going to win the tournament and that certainly should make Russia odds on now.

Well, my prediction of a 2-0 Portugal win went well...

3 of the back 4 are Chelsea defenders. Lets hope they take that form into the league!

Yup,Scolari is definetley making an impression on set pieces and how to defend them. The fact that Abramovich also attended the Switzerland and Germany games(both games Portugal lost),scares me even more.

It's a given that our(Chelsea's) unbeaten home record will come to a crashing end next season.Sam Slater wrote:
