No, silly;

Science 'works' by the presentation of TESTABLE hypotheses which can
be subsequently shown to be incorrect. Then a new hypothesis is formed
to account for the new data, and so on.....
Science still 'believes' that it's only a 99.9% probability that the Sun will
rise in the morning, because if you adhere to the logic nothing can ever be
'proved'. Simply, science has a better track-record in explaining our
apparent environment than any religion.

If you want certainties, though, sure, look to religion.

My point is that science is:
a: fallible.
b: will accept and adhere to something that is incorrect.

It fills the gap with what it thinks is correct at the time, it may have a better track record but it has still been wrong alot of times.

The problem is "does God exist" isn't a testable hypothesis...yet. That doesn't mean that because we can't test something it cannot exist. We couldn't test for Quarks not too long ago but they still existed. Like I have said religion doesn't have the answers but a belief in "God" is a personal thing and does not have to have anything to do with religion. A belief in "God" isn't idiotic it's just a choice, but a choice that should come with responsibilities and be arrived through personal discovery and an open mind.

I'll agree with you about Organised religions can/are a divisive instrument in society

Best explained by listening to My God by Pennywise

but

An indiviual can still have religious beliefs and lead a normal life without being a SNOB

Everyday we exclude those that we don't wish to associate with for a multitude of reasons, not all of them are because of our religious beliefs

No it isnt.

God could be many things to many people. Not necessarily a bearded bloke with a giant hand in the sky.

Even if it was idiotic who are we to judge others by our own standards.

I am not religious but I respect those who are. Therefore I expect god botherers ( a term I reserve for those who have to bash you over the head with it) to respect my right to not believe as they do.

They are only idiotic by bad actions as an extent of their beliefs

Nice one- I replied in much the same vein another thread.
It's all about tolerance...... but NOT approbation.

Do we not all turn to God in selfish needs at some point in our lives regardless of belief?

Do we not pray on our knees when a relative is on their way to the 'next life! ?
