I use one for my off-road competion work , mines only a GoProHD not the latest 3 but the quality of picture is superb , although the sound is odviously limited .

Brings a how new perspective to a shoot like Terry mentioned !

However ,,, checked the GoPro website & facebook as there have been s/ware issues with the latest model ... oh and they can run damm hot !

Plus check-out your PC/Mac requirements to edit the HD footage and conversion from MOV to final output !

Noted. New products sometimes suffer glitches in the software department so I'll check this out. I should be okay with the editing side however, I run Premiere on a quad core beast!

Hero 3 Black. Now I'm thinking this one instead of the Silver and to hell with the price tag...

...but the Facebook forum is quite frightening. Not a lot of happy GoPro customers. Blimey, if it freezes after about 10 minutes then I'm buggered, there are no retake opportunities when you've just lobbed a bucket of custard over a lady's arse...

Was interested to see what you said here Footplay. I have used a GoPro as a back-up camera on three shoots to see what the quality was like and I can only say it was literally unuseable. It was VERY grainy even though we had two 1k tungsten softboxes on - I should point out that I have the GoPro2 which is why I was interested that you say the latest version has better low light capability - maybe I will try one out.
Certainly I would say if you have a GoPro or GoPro2 don't even consider using them indoors as the quality is awful - but I am not knocking these cameras! They are NOT designed for indoor work (let alone porn - lol!) and all my tests outdoors have given excellent results. In particular I shot some underwater stuff in the pool on holiday in Spain last year (it was very sunny which helped) and it came out awesome!
Use them for what they were intended (outdoors action sports) and they are excellent cameras.

Maybe just wait for the next Firmware software update to fix a few more bugs, that's what iam thinking of doing.

From what I've read about the Hero 3 Black, they've overhauled the low light capability as this was a regular gripe about the Hero 2 on forums and the like. Now it seems to be the only camera of its type where users say it's REALLY good in low lighting conditions. The Sony Action Cam and the Contour 2 still attract this criticism, as does the Hero 3 Silver, they were close contenders in my opinion. Some of the footage I've seen on YouTube of the Hero 3 Black in action looks pretty amazing.

I hear what you're saying about what these cameras are for (and by the same token NOT for...there's a GoPro Hero 3 Black Surf Edition but not a Porn Edition...not yet anyway), but given its vast specification I think it'd be unlikely to deliver a poor performance. If I can track down one of these cameras without having to drive miles, I'll stick some footage on YouTube. Clean footage, mind, nothing porny.

I'll try to get something on youtube for the Hero3 Black next week time permitting. Incidentally, any ideas where I could put a more risque demo clip or two online?
