More tips on getting traffic

If you want to get traffic, join lots and lots, hundreds of Yahoo groups and put your link there. This will get you 10-20 hits an hour. Yahoo browsers aren't the biggest spenders but your site will get seen.

It takes about a year to get commercial traffic from search engines, ok maybe six months. Make sure every page of your website has meta tags (keywords) and that you submit every free page of your site to the engines.

Don't over-submit because your pages will then get deleted from the said engine.

A good place to start submitting is at
http://websitesubmit.hypermart.net

But first get your site analysed to see if it is search engine friendly.
at scrubtheweb.com otherwise you can get deleted.
If you want to add an unlimited number of keywords to your pages, add them as text and then disguise them, black writing on a black background Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy style.

Do not go to exploit.com and pay a lot of money for submission keys. ?150 a year is extortion.

Lastly, don't forget even if your content is on a foreign server you can still get done for 'publishing' because you are doing it in the UK. Be careful about giving out addresses and sellling content in the UK.

Look at networksolutions.com if you bought your URL through them because the whois? option will show the address you gave when you bought the URL. Put a false address in there quickly.

Hi
Thanks for all the really great advice you've all been so helpful. I'm gonna try and implement all the tips and suggestions.

To check my meta stuff I used http://www.scrubtheweb.com/abs/meta-che ... tishsex.cn I think it looks quite good but could probably do with more text for search engines/robots to analyze. I would very grateful if I could be listed on the bgafd links.

On the day of launch I submitted to over 30 search engines which will take time I also paid $35 to LYCOS for 48-72 hour submission to the FAST search engine database thing so hopefully I will be able to find my site on a search engine soon.

Any comment/tips very much appreciated.
