I got this too, but not from AW. Not sure what site I got it from. I look at too many naughty sites hehe.

Malware bytes is probly one of the best free programs to use to get rid of it.

When I got it, it wouldn't let me use IE or Chrome but I could use Firefox.

I got rid of it by --

Reboot in safe mode with networking. Open IE. In internet options, go to connections and untick the two proxy settings boxes in LAN connections. Download and run Malware bytes.

It was AW. I only view AW and the default MSN page in Internet Explorer.

What happened was I did not have Service Pack 2 installed for Vista. Without Service Pack 2 the trojan happily loaded itself. Once I had removed the trojan and loaded Service Pack 2 it was fine.

I thought I was up to date with my Vista updates but wasn't and that is why I caught the trojan.

Worth bearing in mind that you should, if you haven't done so already, probably turn off the "drive-by download" setting in IE to stop stuff automatically installing on your system without your consent.

In IE8 Go to Tools/Option/Advanced and look at the Security settings - untick "Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid" - this should help stop most of these kinds of infections.

It seems you can't just let it download itself.
You have to do something, like clicking a button.

I thought that too but technically 'injected code' into a page can circumvent IE using flaws in it where it hastn be'en patched. My PC wasn't patched with Service Pack 2. Whenever I get anything asking me to click yes or even cancel I do alt control delete and force a shutdown of the browser to avoid stuff being loaded.

What got me this time was that I hadn't looked at any other site than AdultWork or MSN.com and got the trojan.

Ron the first thing you did wrong as you said was not having service pack 2 installed with vista. I dont think the trojan came from the site more likely with SP2 not being installed. For everyone out there malwarebytes is a must download and please get yourself a free antivirus either AVG or avira. I myself use a macbook and never had a problem in the 3 months ive had it. I would never go back to using windows just to much hassle.

Since I've installed Avast home edition a few years ago, it's detected every thing that has come my way. It's free if you register the copy.

I use Avast as well and It didn't detect this one. In fact the trojan turned off Avast.

I honestly think that any virus writer who is caught should be sho,t if in a country with the death penalty, and locked away for the rest of their fucking life if in one without.
