Re: Can you recommend a good adult webhost???
I run three websites at Vault Networks in Miami.
See http://www.vaultnetworks.com
I've had a few hosts but these have been the best so far. The ability to get someone on the end of a phone has been really usefully, particularly when my .httpd stopped running and would not restart!
I looked at the overall ratio of our visitors and noted that the largest percentage was from the US, so figured that a US based server would be most appropriate.
My first ever server was on a shared hosting plan at Servage and they were a complete joke. Exceed your daily bandwidt and they'll just shut you down!

Re: Can you recommend a good adult webhost???
Anyone spamming a reflink to a host is a company to avoid. Personlly, Servage, Dreamhost, Hostgator or any other company offering 'unlimited bandwith' are ones to steer clear of to avoid probs further down the line if your site gets decent amounts of traffic.
These hosts are really only good for those with minimal traffic, the part timers and no real server loads such as mysql databases or scripts running.
Look for providers with tier 1 bandwith, proper 24/7 support and avoid those using cogent esp if running a paysite.
ISprime, Phatservers, NationalNet, Mojohost & Techiemedia all come highly recommended which the big boys use but come at a higher cost. If you are serious about your business its a price well worth paying for.

Have to agree and yet disagree here mate.
I'm in total agreement about not getting something for nothing but have to say that the more expensive Gator plans are fine for decent amounts of traffic and depending on what your site does then it may well be one worth considering... certainly for anyone starting up or anyone who is happy to make a decent income without trying to take on the whole world.
I'm not saying Gator is the best by any stretch of the imagination but to just assume it's no good is a little harsh especially considering your main reason.
You say that Gator must be avoided because Joe King used an affiliate link to it.
Does this mean that wherever an affiliate promotes any site it should be avoided just because an affiliate recommends it?
Do you have a site? Do you have people recommending it?

Re: Can you recommend a good adult webhost???
Phatservers.net got a few dedicated servers with other companies but phatservers are my favourite been with them for at least 8-9 years. I get a reply to most support tickets within 10mins most quicker. Im paying about $600 per 25mbit per server. Also nationalnet and mojohost are great and if you are looking for something cheapish webair are doing some good specials.
Re: Can you recommend a good adult webhost???
Another thing I now look out is what network the data center connects to.
What pushed me to Vault Networks is that they have a direct connection to the Level 3 network and generally network traffic stays on level 3 for most of it's journey. Trace route from me at home to bnwebmedia.com reaches my server in only 8 hops and appears to stay on L3 from start to finish.
A tracert to Hostgator for instance takes 15 hops and goes via various networks. Interestingly it's final hops are from The Planet, so I don't know if they are a subsidery? I heard lots of bad things about the Planet in the past.
Anyway, generally fewer hops theorertically should provide faster data transfer. However, bandwidth on the network also plays a major part.
Just thought I'd add a more technical view on the matter if anyone cares.

I agree to some extent but the original poster has already been let down by one host. The dreamhost/hostgator hosts etc really are 'bottom end' hosts but that doesn't mean they are bad depending on how you use them. Just look at there T&C's and you'll see many restrictions that you probably won't know if it'll happen until it happens.. then your site will be down as you've breached the T&C's.

I probably worded that wrong but all over webmaster boards you see the ref links from sig whores trying to make a few cents often for a service they have never used. It wasn't aimed at Joe King directly but you can't really compare an affiliate link for a host and a porn site as they are 2 different things.
For hosting I'd want recommondations from others who use that service (without a ref link) as i'd be paying for a service and not a product or subscription.
For a site, when clicking the link, I'm buying a product rather then a service and i can see exactly what i may be subscribing to by seeing the tour and free samples.
