I did one through Calumet with the 5D, and to be honest it was a bit of a waste of time, but that is not to say they are all like that, it is judt the time I don't have. But thanks.

I was looking at the colour management and work flow stuff.
Personally for web use, majority of colour flow control and balance is pointless. As long as your screen is calibrated (?40-?150 tool, of which someone borrowed by spyder and still has it in the state til end o the month) the pics will be ok

I Agree, but have just upgraded (apparently, and the jury is still out) to Vista Business 64 bit. My Spyder 2 installed on Vista but the driver doesn't get recognized, so the when you run the software and put spyder on the LCD it don't flippin work. Looked at the website which says all colourvision S/W works with Vista, but It looks like I may need to upgrade that too (with all the other shit I've already upgraded to, to work with either Vista or 64bit). On the website it has quite an array of calibration tools/software. More money, more money. It is even more of a pain when using dual monitors.

I find my LCD Panels are GROSSLY different than CRT, and my Laptops totally different again, I'm totally out on all my stuff now, as I have recentlyt replaced it all, and don't have my spyder to sort it

If you are in London, I happily loan you the Spyder 2 advanced colour calibration system. I have to go buy a replacement coz I'm lost too. Just put some pics up on the web and they look shite coz I used guesswork for the monitor colours. I know I'll have to re-do them !!

Well here's my 1/2 pence worth.
Web browsers (on windows at least) are not colour space aware. They display everything as if it was using the sRGB colourspace even if it isn't. The upsot of this is that if you are editing in another colour space, say AdobeRGB, then your photos will look significantly different in a web browser no matter how well your monitor is calibrated.
I always shoot raw (always alway always!) and then import the photos into photoshop in SRGB using camera raw.
I was under the impression that monitor calibration was for printing. I don't know how effective it would be for web output since all your users will be viewing your images on uncalibrated monitors.
Lastly (and I'll probably get burned alive for saying this) you should use windows. Windows and Macs use different gamma settings and while you can approximate a windows display on a mac it is a bugger to get it right. 95% of your users are on PC's so if your photos look lovely on your Mac but dingy and dull on all your users windows PC's then you aren't doing yourself any favours
