I'm sure Katy won't reply to this thread given some of the hostile remarks posted, but she will read the comments.
Might it be that this insular attitude actually feeds the negative image you seek to avoid?

Yes it does Big Al but at leas the porn industry is honest in its negativity and jadedness. We dont dress it up like some people would think and most uof us arent suckers for media notoriety.

Blimey, I'm honoured that you acknowledge my existence OEJ, unlike some, lol !!
I don't dispute what you say; the point I was trying to make is that maintaining a distance won't stop the production of such documentaries, and the image they portray. Maybe a little co-operation would work in the industry's favour?
Be interesting to see if anything hits our screens!

This industry sells more as a machine that uses and abuses and spits out, if someone was actually going to do something Pro-Industry they would research it and contact the producers direct, lets look at George Doll Theatre, his email's on his site, Terry is on his, ********** is easy o get hold of, so are most others, the only reason you would openly advertise is because you wanna remake Jerry, Trisha or Jeremy.

Having worked in both mainstream TV, film and this industry, I must state that the reservations voiced by people like Terry are entirely justified. From long professional experience I can testify that the brodcasting media in this country, is indeed dominated by middle-class careerists who very rarely wish to make an objective programme, but merely one that they believe will
mirror their own smug sense of hypocritical moral superiorority. This on any subject, let alone one as potentially provocative as porn...It is indeed a cultural scandal that we are controlled by these people to such degrees and it is notable that this woman has fell into the same old trap, with her leadweight pitch. (Make that Deadweight).
She could have course, posted on here seriously and requested a conference with an established group of Producer's and models, she could have offered a co-production deal designed to ensure that porn film makers actually combined to make this programme. Thus ensuring that the predictable one-sided morality tale was kept at bay. She could have done a lot of things, which a really serious Film Maker would have weighed up and
deemed condusive to establishing confidence and trust with his or her subjects. The fact that she has not, shows one simple truth.
This person thinks all people who make porn are moronic, brain dead scumbags. She would not put it that way but beneath the veneer of friendly seduction lies a well-fashioned contempt for what she will systematically view as an inferior industry. She clearly imagines the regular contributors to this forum will eagerly leap in front of her camera's like the endless conveyor belt of illiterate, drug ravaged misfits who sadly aspire to appear on Morning chat shows.
The trouble is, serious radical Film Maker's, the one's who would make a truly objective and quite likely, supportive piece, hardly get a look in on British TV these days. The Commissioning Editor's would not want people who would suggest the idea's of empowerment I have just outlined. The great American writer William Burroughs and a number of other people, fought hugely courageous battles against artistic censorship in the last 50 years. Many of these are being undermined constantly in contemporary TV output and production. The concept of 'dumbing down' is real and this woman's posting embodies it perfectly. As Burrough's concieved, with a wickedly lucid clarity, Porn actually has a moral duty that most people fail to understand throughout their entire lives.
It exists for more than titilation and gratification. It constantly reminds us, just how far the boundaries between what we desire to see and what we are allowed by the state to absorb, really are.
Just how far is British TV Production going in order to extend that gulf??
That is the premise for a great doc. My experience has taught me that the chances of getting such films made are almost zero in the current climate.
I can hear the C.E'S choking 'What???????????? Porn makers as moral defender's of civil right's, are you insane? We can't tell them that!!!'.....
As for Katy, Terry you should ask her to do a 'Real Couple's'! On the basis it would at least provide her with a brief glimpse of the sensibilities she claims to wish to examine...Bet's gentlemen? Katy?????????????????????
