James..

No Pro pays a model for a release... We book them with the intention of publication and this should be reflected in all the rates quoted by either !

A model who asks extra for release is a fool and won't get a lot of work. This is something only part time amateurs would thing of asking for..

jamesr you obviously aren't a professional. It is well known that professionals don't pay extra for model release, models model to be seen and release is part of the job, what'd be the point otherwise.

And the rates are okayish, most professional photographers are paying ?250-300 for a full day shoot for solo work.

Probably low rate if only booking an hour or two but on a longer shoot it'd be okay, most models quote rates ?50-60 for solo with discount for half day or full day bookings, but there are a fair few models who quote far lower rates and I've seen some models this past week or two (must be xmas coming up) posting ads and sending emails advertising special reduced rates around the ?40 mark and one model I even saw advertise ?80 for first 2 hours and ?30 each hour thereafter (okay in fairness they wasn't busty models).

Basically I don't think you should've tried to down this post, the guy posted what he's willing to pay (full marks to him because most people don't have the guts to post rates) and models can make up own minds whether they accept it or give it a miss, some will happily work for it and others won't.

I just 'love' the disrespect shown by the 'professionals' on this forum. Downing some because they make a living out of other things & shoot as 'amateurs' is a snobbery, plain & simple.

I stand by my comments & would remind the other amateurs reading this that publishing anything without the strict & legal approval of 'the likeness' is illegal & deserves to get you sued.

Chin up Jamesr but you must have seen how they enjoy eating their young in previous posts so posting does come with a price.

We don't put down amateurs unless they are fools. We pro's are treated the same.. Some one makes a dumb comment.. It gets jumped on :) I suggest that you check up on the UK copyright laws. The producer of the image owns the copyright 100%, and in effect doesn't even need a model release.

This brought us in to line with the rest of the EU a few years ago. Start here to read it all:

You can also read this:

Or this short version:

All we've done is point out that your comments about paying for a release were stupid and made by someone with little knowledge, and you have now made another wrong comment about publication.

It's the pro's who have to be sure of the laws... :)
