Hi

If you are based anywhere near Birmingham then drop me an email. I have a range of mics that you can try with your video camera before you buy. If you want to look at external recording I am using a Marantz PMD670 which can record a range of file types and has inputs for two mics. It does not write a time code but you can drag the files into your video editing software and re sync the sound. Although I have to agree with the others in this post that your best bet is to invest in a (or a couple) of good off camera mic.
