Hi Mike

Sorry to say this but any site that only allows the surfer to stream videos is no good to me. I wouldn't join a site that didn't let you download. At first I thought it was because I was on dial up that streaming annoyed me so much. But now I have broadband 1MB , still annoys me. To me its simply not good enough to justify paying money for them. I admit that the quality of streaming videos have improved no end over the years but to me if I am paying a membership I think I deserve to be able to download the content.

Just a surfers opinion but I wouldn't to watch a streamed video.

Streaming theatres with no save have never been popular as far as we have seen only popular to the producers and nice if you can get away with it. When we tried them with no target save we had more threats of members walking from the sites than was healthy.

Offering stream with save is popular as is zipped download movies and with broadband gathering more and more pace the member doesn't have to wait that long for a 20 minute plus scene 512k or 1mb plus broadband movie now.

Neil, as a webmaster I doubt you're 100% unbiased... Streaming costs more to provide than download does.

We have run services offering the choice of streaming and download, and streaming tends to win. Most users don't know or care about the difference. Techies tend to prefer download. Streaming is a nicer service to the casual user as it works quite like playing a DVD.

Multicast, or uni-cast is the way. Streaming to TV is the answer and at 1600kbs video. that is around DVD quality. If you sign up with our new syst then you might even get 8meg to your house on a good day thats Hi-Def. I never met anyone who wanted to wait for a wank,,,,,I think your are forced to. As for live content thats on the cards approx 6 weeks away. got to do with fiberoptics and streaming servers. Live 8 is a good way for us to test the hardware.
DRM right now is not so secure but with Microsoft now allowing us to layer theirs we will get there. The answer to Mikes question is yes, if its a statement I agree. Payment is imaterial you could do subscription just like Playboy but thenits not on demand, A mixture of both will work best just like Sky, big events can be VOD or P2V....Its about value.

The fact that I am a webmaster has nothing to do with my opinion. Its just that if I am paying for a membership then I think I am entitled to be able to save the videos to my computer. Then I can see them whenever I want and also the quality of streamed videos can be very unstable.
My site doesn't come into it as it doesn't contain videos except the danni.com video of course

Riley,

I think that you have a good point there. But I know that lots of customers are downloading my exclusive titles.

When they will be able to watch streaming at 1600kbs on demand cheap they wont bother saving as the file will be to big anyway. Its about fare pricing and quality. who watches a porno anymore than a couple of times anyway. They spend anything up to 30quid on a DVD so 2 quid to watch a complete scene is cheap...look at the video booths in Holland etc,,,they are all pay to pump so why should the video streaming be any different. When the set-top box arrives you are watching it on your TV so you could in theory record it to video for example but why bother when it is cheap and hi quality just to watch.

I have on here, the problem has been in the DRM but I have some assurance its resolved. We have done all the PHP back-end for the box including the portal/interface/browser.....if the new server was on-line it would take us 4 hours to make it work.....our live encoder is working already so its the last step now. watch the shit hit the fan next week, we have 30 clients waiting to place an order for a start up system and like I said any-time after Monday should be good....we have plans to launch 75 Local TV channels within a year and that will grab us a hige viewership all of who will be able to watch up to 720line Porn, no BBFC, no OFCOM,,,,,Just quality porn on demand or like a normal chanel but 24hours a day,,,,,

I am streaming Hi-Def over IP right now and it works,

Dixons will sell the boxes cause the will have Dixon's TV over IP......the box will probably end up free with a subscription just like sky.
