Some time in June Terry (One Eyed Jack), Sahara, I and others will be heard on Radio 1Xtra talking about the adult biz over here. In fact during my part the producer carried out an interview over the phone with another webmaster who I was talking to at the time..

So what are your feelings/views on the UK data protection act and breaking the law of the country you reside in ? Do you have written permission from every UK model you've worked with over the last 7 years, to have her private details published ?

No one is talking about having the personal details published publicly! All the 2257 means is that the details have to be available for the proper authorities to check. That isn't the same as publishing them and isn't against the DPA.

Yes, but the personal details would have to be passed on to "secondary producers" i.e people like you Neil, who have models' images on websites but didn't create the images themselves.

Yes I know, but giving me the details isn't publishing them. I would, like everyone else, have to make sure that the details didn't become public. Thats why the DPA is about.
One thing I am not sure about with the 2257 is does it only apply to hardcore ? Or does it apply to all modelling?
Also , am I right in thinking its only a problem if your site is hosted in the US?

I have over 300 affiliates covering my four pay sites who I don't know from Adam... Do you really think I'm going to break UK laws and give them all the info I have..

As an example: If you lived in the States, you would need the details of every model on every banner you have on the site, never mind the ones who you feature in galleries...

Yes. I agree that its a minefield but the DPA is about making details public, not giving them to someone who runs a website. Though as i said in one of the other 100 threads about this subject anyone who keeps these records would have to take the DPA course (only a short video to be honest) and sign that they understand and will be bound by it.
But again, the DPA only applies to the UK and 2257 to the US.
I think it would make more sense for you all to ask lawyers and get it all clarified rather than talk amongst yourselves about it.
I can't see that any of you can be any clearer about 2257 than you were before these threads started.
You need to get it clarified by lawyers so you are all covered.
For my part I am going to make absolutely certain that my site is hosted in Germany and not the USA!
