My Mums' friends next door neighbours auntie's cat died and I'm quite upset, so upset I couldn't phone you cos a picture of the cat was on it and upset me to use it.
Can I let you down next week instead?
PS I have never let anyone down before and I am 100% reliable

She'd certainly be at the top end of the market, so if her decision was a purely financial one, I couldn't blaame her for going that way.

Well a reliable girl would probably have to have something pretty unusual happen to prevent her turning up. It's the not telling anyone that's unprofessional.
I have to say though, that this is a business where it is quite easy to find yourself in a situation where you can't phone because people will hear that shouldn't.

My mate had a booking at his studio with a well known British hardcore girl, who is famous for not turning up. I told him she wouldn't turn up.
Just to make sure he phoned her to double check and she called me all names under the sun for saying she was unreliable. She told him I was lying and said the only way she'd not turn up would be if she had been shot through the head.
The following day he sat in the studio for 4hrs with the photographer before texting her to say he assumed she'd been shot through the head.
Another mate of mine had a booking with her, and rung her hourly on the day to check she was on her way. Each time she said she was getting nearer to the station. Each time he could hear the same pub crowd around her as she got steadily more drunk each time. He was livid that she wouldn't just say "I'm not coming, I'm in the pub getting pissed."
She still gets work in America though. They must lock her in her hotel room between shoots!
