I think that Samsung is saying in an extremely diplomatic way, what I say now - that your reply above is hilarious and I assume - hopefully-that you are NOT being serious.

I run Full Service....it's an adult entertainment agency, not a model agency, but some of the girls who dance at stags, in clubs etc also do modeling, filming, TV work etc., so I put the relevant information regarding their availability on the web site.
If someone calls me to say "I'd like to book so and so for a photo/video shoot" then I pass the message on to the girl(s) in question (having done a little checking out of the company/individual asking) and they will either reply directly to the producer or if they wish, use me as a "barrier" (usually when they're not interested!). I don't take any fee/commission for this from the girls.
If a (mainstream) film/TV company says "we have a project and we need x number of girls to do...." then I invoice the production company for my time. This happened when I was involved in supplying the lap/pole dancers for CLOSER and previously for films such as ALFIE and TV productions such as "The Ralph Little Show", "Don't Watch That, Watch This", "The Bill" etc. and for music videos.
These involve more than just the one phone call, as "todge" seems to think, and given I tend to get good rates out of companies such as the BBC (I regularly get a ?90 fee for the girls when the standard BBC fee is about ?65), I see any money I do make as being earned!

I have got to disagree with Todge and Samsung, in that if you find a "good" agent they are worth their weight in gold.
We shoot with models about 4/5 times a week, and when we were finding suitable models ourselves we could email 10 models and be lucky if we got a reply from 1 or 2.
Tried a few of the big agencies and they were crap, but since last year have now done a lot via 2 agencies and it has saved loads of time and effort for us.
They email over portfolios of girls that are interested in the work, and if they are suited to our site we simply ask the agent to book them.
I agree some agencies are not good, but if you find one that does what they say they will do they are money well spent.
I should also point out that we have never had any dealings with Patricks agency, so comments that some are rubbish is NOT directed at Patrick, as it seems he is doing a good job in promoting his agency and knows the industry.
Cheers
Paul

People always say this about middlemen but every kind of broker and agent thrives in every area of commercial life. I was an oil broker once and there were people on both sides, buyers and sellers who thought they could do better without us but they were always wrong. Likewise estate agents, insurance brokers etc etc.
You just don't know anything about business mate.

I think agents can do a good job, if they listen to whats wanted and actually sort things out. Just texting someone and saying call this perosn is pants, as Sandie had. Thats a piss taker.
If your an agent, you get the right girl for teh righ job...and you give the girls he right work for teh level they want.
Should the agents work for teh girls or the producers? Both...yu should want both customers to get what they are after...if you get girls turning up saying they only do GG and they are on a BG shoot...doesnt help any one. The agnet should work for both.

Obviously that's not to say there aren't good and bad agencies. I don't know about your story though. It's a bit short on detail. What do you mean they thought they were booking someone else?
