I was once the leading agent in the UK- Paramount International.(25yrs)
I gave it up because in latter years, the majority of girls became unreliable.
NOT all, of course, but enough, so that I could not satisfy my clients.

I also have a a different but allied biz and the problems are exactly the same.

"Common Courtesy" is an alien feature to the average female mind.
When they need work - they pester you.

When they are high; on the piss; with their boyfriend/pimp/; hung-over or any other damn reason, then YOU/WE are alien beings to be totally ignored and treated as starngers intruding on their vastly important lives.

Wonder why there is no home-grown talent?!

This is not bitterness (as it may well come across, but simply an observation) and a sad comment on the state of the UK industry.

It's vacuous chav culture that's to blame Marcus - nowadays British girls just copy the style and mores of the nouveau celebrities - the morons and idiots they see in the Current Bun, in OK and Heat, and the unless lairy twats who appear on big brother. They are the new role models. They take there social, sartorial, and behavioural cues from them - so when they see Jordan being an irresponsible, lairy, loudmouthed, slappa, then being rewarded by being plastered all over the front of the Currant Bun, accompanied by 'Wheyhey!' flavoured headlines, they unconsciously think it must be cool and they start to behave in a similar fashion. But their roll models in the 80's would have been gorgeous, feminine, glamour girls like Linda Lusardi, Mandy Smith, Debbie Ashby, etc. Those girls had a totally different demeanour to today's lot who couldn?t care less how they look, or how they behave. Guess which generation the chaps prefer?

My friends and associates on the Costa Del Crime often report back how incredibly stark the difference in attitude is between continental girls and British girls there. The continental girls take immense pride in their appearance. Their dress, on the whole, is elegant and glamorous, even to the extent that the single mums over there wouldn?t dream of stepping out without some lippy on and their hair done up nice! And they have manners to match. My pals always say that the Brit girls stick out like a sore thumb over there - load mouthed, chavy appearance, no dress sense etc. But interestingly, they have also reported that Brit girls who stay over there for extended periods start to 'go native' in respect that they start to copy the superior manners and style of the European girls. This seems to suggest that there isn't any intrinsic deficiency in British girls, they?re just not socialised properly over here - instead they are exposed to the baleful influence of the British tabloid media and trash TV, and crucially, nowadays one is wagging the finger at them - except, to his credit, Marcus.

You said this:

This left us with a soundman, 2 cameramen, Lorna, Leon and Mark (the other talent) and a director busily trying to rework the whole days shoot!

You has 3 people, and one of them was a girl!!! There's easily a scene there. Just because its not the one you wanted, so what. What you'll quickly learn in this business that most shoots are salvage operations if someone doesnt turn up....which is highly likely and if everyone does turn up then that's lucky, but it's not the norm. You're just experiencing the problems everyone else had day to day. Good luck in the future!

Oh and you should've booked me, I would have turned up and I like Gillian and Leon they're mates of mine!!!

i was at beehive studio and a model didnt show up for another photographer who was booking another studio after us he asked if i would take her place.. she is a well known model and he wouldve been paying her good money and he offered me ?15 an hour to do adult pics! erm.. suffice to say i said no made my excuses and left after the shoot i had originally came for :)
I wouldve done it if hed said 'i was paying her ??'s and i'll pay you the same' afterall i wouldve been saving him and having him go home with just as good pics and helping him out.. but no he wanted to pass me off cheap and lost out!
I turned up did my shoot and was offered to cover for a model who didnt show but get paid less then half of what he was going to pay her (i wouldnt do adult mag pics for ?15 anyway!)
pfft
if you want a model to help you out with no shows its worth offering her what you wouldve paid the original model!

Maybe the Malais within the industry is self induced. There have been dozens of posts on this forum bemoaning the state of the "talent" both Male & Female & the lack of any real porn stars.
Yes, the UK stars of yesteryear were different but they were in such great demand because of the scarcity of girls willing to do such things & the small number of UK producers paid them very well & took full advantage. Nowadays the UK is full of "wannabees" on both sides, it's a case of supply & demand, modelling rates tumble as more people try to jump on the gravy train.
Result, a never ending quest to find new talent, pick em up, use em, NEXT! So why bother to nurture real glamour talent? when the country is awash with girls only to ready & willing to perform a hc bg shoot for ?100 or less!
Maybe it's true that you only get what you pay for.
As for reliabilty, I don't think the young people of today know its meaning. But then again loyalty also breeds respect, so maybe both sides of the argument should take a look in the mirror........on second thoughts maybe not ?????????? lust can be an ugly thing!
