yeah, i think censorship in the early 80's was very relaxed in alot of countries.

so, i guess the 80's in Italy was the era where you had porn stars reaching celebrity status? how about porn directors?

another thing ... what were the names of the channels you could view these adult movies on in the 80's? anyone remember? or are they still going/under the same name?

I agree absolutely with "From Italy" : in Sicilia for example, in cities such as Catania or Palermo, it was the case still around 1990 and after, if my own memory is correct. But also in Milano in the North, and in Torino in the North too. The atmosphere was very "bon enfant" as we say in French : meaning that everything was cool, about porno. It was not a state affaire discussed in national assembly by senators and deputies, as in Paris in 1976 or as in America around 1970 at Nixon time, if you remember that time for those who were living at that time, and aware of what happened around them. Anyway, for the others, they can still find documents (video and written ones) showing them what it was... I give you a simple summary.

PS to Alpha 7 : About the objection of Alpha7, I can confirm him that it was not always fake, and that it was still happening around 1990, by the way.

PS 2 : In my previous message, I wanted to mention, of course, the little bookshop in the Milano steets instead of the "streets" themselves, as I had written it by mistake.

PS 3 : about directors, they were known as well as stars from the 1980's and so on... under pen names or real names but they were known by cinephiles, afficionados and amateurs of the genre, as in any other movie genres.

so, was the vibe cool about porno in Italy during the 70's? i guess people got more free and easy about it towards the end of the 70's. yes or no?

concerning directors like Renato Polselli: i heard that the Centro Cattolico Cinematografico was a major body that influenced what could and could not be viewed by the public. does anyone have a little information on this?

also, was Deep Throat (Profundo Gola) released in Italy in the 70's? if so, was it released in its full hardcore version?

from what i've read so far, i'm beginning to understand that maybe it was just Giallo's, Sexy Erotic, and Sexy Comedies that were most successful in Italy during the 70's. that porno, was seldomly viewed within Italy at that time, depending where you were. maybe in some towns, north or south, i don't know.

this information provided by other participants in this discussion has been a great help, thus far. keep it coming. please.

I was not talking about ALL the animal movies shot at that age ... I was referring only to the animal scenes performed by M.Hedmann herself ...

On the other hand, best credited italian sources confirm what I said.

TeleAppula ..disappeared
Tele2...now as TN8 is part of big TeleNorba www.telenorba.it..no more HC

there is a channel now...TeleA (I think from Naples) where every night you can see porn movies with cut scenes.

Speaking of the wolf, you can see its tail, as we say over here...

About Renato Polselli, I can tell you that I have screened (and recorded on VHS) on French TV some years ago an italian speaking version, with french subtitles and very good image technically well cleaned and digitally processed in state of the art, of :

L'AMANTE DEI VAMPIRO (Italy 1960) directed by Renato Polselli

It is a "C" (meaning that it is under "A" and "B" range of movies, if you see what I mean) slightly erotic (slightly today but in 1960 erotic enough) horror movie shot in black & white, with some nice Italian actresses.

Story and directing work are quite poor but image & photography sometimes nice.

Anyway it was for me a curiosity which had never been released in theaters in France, nor on TV nor on VHS : we have discovered it with 45 years of delay.
I would rate it, about cinematografic value, widely under the level of a Riccardo Freda or Mario Bava or Camillo Mastrocinque movie in the same field of movies but it is historically interesting.

Hello.
There were certainly issues with censorship laws and all that, so what happened is that many directors/film companies decided to change the titles of the movies to make them "look" unoffensive and pass the censorship tests, that's the reason why there were a lot of bizarre and apparently not related to the plot titles around. (I think about titles like Porno Revolution for example)
I confirm that many animals scenes in the italian movies of the 70/80's were fake and many of them were inserts taken from Color Climax or other european productions (from holland for example).
Moreover it was a very usual practice to "steal" scenes from other movies and make a new edition with a total new title and credits (usually completely fake ones).
About the channels. I remember one for sure called "Telecentro", and yeah, I confirm about Tele A, but it is definitely full of cuts :(
The sexy comedies were far more popular than the full porn movies and the porn scene in Italy got bigger in the 80's when directors like Mario Siciliano and Sergio Bergonzelli.
About Marina Frajese, officially speaking there's no known scene with true animals around with her.

thanks Moli ...

I am wondering if you (or anyone) could remember some more of those bizarre movie titles (like Porno Revolution) that had nothing to do with the actual story. i find this quite hilarious, and at the same time, very ingenious.

thanks for the information. this is great.
