and i agree there's a time and place for intense or painful sex. my objection is to the pervasiveness of this attitude, particularly in the american adult movie industry.
many videos pride themselves on gaping assholes and nonstop, intense fucking.
of course this attitude is also prevalent in euro porn, such as the german ccc john thompson stuff (widely available in the US, by the way).
but it's balanced out by the well done, erotic stuff -- color climax, pleasure busen, ribu, marc dorcel etc. even the women in those crazy german fisting videos have smiles on their faces!
there's no american equivalent that i know of. as someone else pointed out, american films simply don't have the "erotic touch" found in italy, france and germany.
ironically, there's much eroticism to be found in the US, but it's always used in tame or ridiculous ways, like in shoe ads or disney sitcoms. There's simply no talent or desire to bring that to adult movies.

NTSC is the TV system used in the USA. PAL is the TV system used In Europe. Most European DVD players automatically convert the signal from an NTSC DVD into something that will play on a European TV. But if they don't then a modern European TV or VCR will do this anyway.

In the USA, it is much less common for equipment to cope automatically with PAL disks and tapes. However, DVD players which automatically convert a PAL disk to NTSC output do exist, e.g.

Because they rent everything which the major companies release in this genr?; they are profitable to the major companies. So the major companies make more and more releases in this genr?. If the major companies actually do release a video which is not like this, it gets lost in the tsunami of the "raincoater" videos. It never finds its intended non-raincoater audience. The company loses money on its release. The company asks itself, "Why release a video in a genr? which is not profitable for us?"

But it seems to me that here; it has become the erotic 'El Dorado'. We want something we do not have.
I want to view the European erotic (preferably explicit) movies which were released in the 1970s; whether they were lensed in Germany, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, France, wherever.
And many of you in Europe would love to see the bare-bones, yet somehow mildly-appealing 'cheapies' which were less than an hour long, and were usually shown in triple bills in U.S. "combat-zone" theaters.

In our case, the powers-that-be would prefer we not find them. But I believe there are still enough people here who will perservere. In your case, I believe it is moreso that nobody expected these movies to have any shelf life. So an erotic movie went out. Maybe it made money. Maybe it didn't. But in either case, its producer & distributor lost track of it after a year or two. In its quest for the 'fast buck' {try that for a tongue-twister}, it did not consider the long-term ancillary value of it.

Just to clarify, NTSC and PAL is a different question from region code. Most porn DVDs are region 0. It is true however, that some European porn DVDs are region 2 (and even more so if they are sexploitation DVDs), but if the company is trying to sell (and has the rights to sell) worldwide, like Marc Dorcel and some Colmax DVDs, they produce NTSC Region 0 DVDs safe in the knowledge that almost all DVD players in Europe will be able to cope with NTSC disks and region 0 DVDs will play anywhere.
