We don't need friends like Sturgeon and Salmond, the population of London is greater than that of Scotland so how about independance for London..

It is odd how the Scots would root for North Korea against England at Football yet are quick at opening their shops, hotels and other businesses to our hard earned cash. If you continue down your anti English hatred you may find your income dropping rapidly.

Exactly how many English people live in London ? Couldn't be much judging by what I saw the last time there.

Unlike EastEnders, the east Enders now live in Essex. White flight and all that...

That is correct most of the old east enders moved out to Essex and Kent and the old bonds still tie them, the language is no longer cockney it's called estuary...

I went to college in London back in the 70s (Hackney) and stayed in a hostel on East India Dock Road to start with before moving out to Forest Gate. Forest Gate was very multicultural back then so god knows what it's like now. East India Dock Road was very much cockney and the boozer across the road from the hostel often had knees up round the old joanna.

In the late 60s early 70s i was a trucker running produce mainly from the East India & Millwall docks in to the old Covent Garden and Spitalfields markets and it was all cockney back then, i never thought how things could have changed so fast in my lifetime, London has no character now it's had the heart of it knocked out by the developers, still the shard looks nice and did you know you can go up to the 33rd floor for nothing, but they do expect you to purchase a drink about 8 quid for a half pint, i can hear those old barrow boys sobbing in to their beer, Underneath the Arches is where i go !drink!

I quite often used to go to London for a long weekend but as you say it's just not the same. I used to enjoy going down Petticoat Lane and Brick lane on a Sunday or maybe a trip down to speakers corner and listen to some of the fruit loops. Nowadays I tend to go to Amsterdam, Prague or Bucharest but Amsterdam is starting to price itself out of it.
