I think he has a mild mental illness, genuinely believes what he thinks but is unable to prove it, which puts him in the religion/cult grouping, rather than conman.

We have need of you again, great king.

agreed, but he still seems to have a degree of business acumen and an entrepreneurial streak.

That seems to be a given for all mass indoctrination cults!

Bread then. The type of drink/foodstuffs doesn't matter to my point, as you well know.

Again, since you've avoided the question: Do you believe the food and drink taken in holy communion actually turns into the blood and flesh of Jesus Christ?

And regardless of whether you do or don't believe this, is this belief any nuttier than David Ike believing the Moon is a spaceship?

'Yes' to what?

'Yes' to believing that the bread and wine at holy communion actually turns into the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ?

or,

'Yes' that view is as nutty as David Ike believing the Moon is a spaceship?

Or 'yes' to both?

Just so we're clear.

As do the world's religions!

They even get tax breaks or government grants for their nutty beliefs. We even let them teach our kids in schools! In context, I think David Ike is harshly treated. !laugh!

Some years ago I went to hear him speak. Boy, he goes on for longer than Ken Dodd - well over three and a half hours in this case. I thought the lizard thing might have been dreamt up to discredit him. But no he came out and said the Royal Family and Ted Heath were lizards and had taken part in human sacrifices. Someone asked if Tony Blair (then PM) was a lizard. "I'm still researching him" he said with a straight face.

I had a girlfriend who wouldn't drink tap water after listening to Icke. She was convinced it had been doctored by the Government to make everybody docile. She had to lug bottled water everywhere. Could there be some truth in it though? And is someone using QPR players as guinea pigs?

Why does that make him a nutter? You cannot prove the moon is not a spaceship and there is every possibility it could be. Why has man never gone back to the moon? Why is there one side of the moon we can never see? I don't agree with his theory on the moon being a spaceship, but it's a perfectly reasonable one and the bible tells us that there are beings underground and up above watching over us.

Er because of the speed at which the Moon rotates.

Millions of years ago, the Moon spun at a much faster pace than it does now. However, the gravitational influence of the Earth has gradually acted upon the Moon to slow its rotation down, in the same way that the much smaller gravitational influence of the Moon acts upon the Earth to create tides. This influence slowed the rotational period of the Moon to match that of its orbit ? about 29.5 days ? and it is now "locked in" to this period.

If the Moon didn't spin at all, then eventually it would show its far side to the Earth while moving around our planet in orbit. However, since the rotational period is exactly the same as the orbital period, the same portion of the Moon's sphere is always facing the Earth.
