yeah it's bonkers. but like so much of this "degrading to women" nonsense it is also in fact highly insulting and patronising towards potential female space scientists to make such a statement in the first place, presuming to speak on their behalf, presuming to know how they think, presuming that they all think alike and presuming that all of them are likely to be somehow offended or put off by some geezer's choice of shirt.

And that friend happened to be a woman.



This was feminists bullying and attacking an individual rather than fighting for equality.

Just read a good piece in the Guardian on this very topic by Julie Bindel (someone I don't always agree with). She makes excellent points and shows where feminism and this modern leftism, is going wrong. There's inconsistency and too many have their priorities all wrong.

I hate to say it again, but too many are using leftism and feminism as vanity projects to make themselves look good. The subjects fought over just become opportunities to belittle others.

Indeed Terry a valid comment and critics may not just be, using the word loosely, journalists but family, ( former ) friends, contacts, potential employers etc.

And it was STILL a shite shirt that showed he had the fashion sense of a 13 year old. But no matter. He was responsible for an amazing feat of rocket science. Just has no dress sense.

Agreed. Although, it's important to point out, the feminists that attacked the guy weren't abusing him for his fashion sense....and neither am I defending him on it.

The guy was vilified and made to feel bad that much he ended up in tears giving a public apology. That was wrong, and not what feminism is (should be) about.
